1998 Rover - Austin 400 Sedan 1.6L Honda
Summary:
Superb daily driver, comfortable commuter and 35 - 38 MPG
Faults:
Radiator fans stopped working due to failure of switch operated by thermostat.
Hood and door linings needed re-gluing (common to some European and English cars).
Cambelt renewed at 100,000 km and full service done - the only expense so far.
General Comments:
Have owned 100+ vehicles, and I can honestly say this Rover 400 gives one of the most pleasant relaxed motoring experiences of any. Nothing spectacular mind, just good, honest, economical and comfortable driving.
The car is immaculate, silver with light grey leather seats, well upholstered and long-lasting. Has the ambiance of a great looking car that gets favourable comments.
The 1.6L Honda motor and auto are so smooth and lively enough for me. Bought cheap $2250 as a trade-in at a big car sales yard in Christchurch NZ. The car was assembled in Japan.
