2018 Subaru Outlander

Summary:

Great vehicle otherwise. Just this issue causing me disappointment

Faults:

So this is what sometimes happens, but not often enough for Subaru to find a problem: every now and then at around 1500 revs the diesel engine gives a slight miss, particularly if you are backing off speed or gently cruising in 6th gear (it's a manual). Have had the software on the particle filter reinstalled after the filter light stayed on (remembering I do 80% country driving), but this didn’t eliminate the miss. Definitely more frequent when using truck diesel. Since reverting to only premium diesel, it occurs far less frequently but still occasionally. Worse when the engine is cold.

Any solution anyone?

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Always use the high grade diesel fuel, unless your area means you could be very far away from a service station. I've read countless recommendations on UK websites like HonestJohn.co.uk, which advocates the use of high grade diesel every time. It prevents engine running issues, or cures them, improves both engine performance and economy at the same time. The modern diesel engine is very sensitive to the fuel quality.

Thank you for that. Good advice. Hopefully things sort themselves out soon.
