Faults:

Timing chain failure due to tensioners and guides.

The exhaust gas pressure sensor often fails.

Front bushings and engine mounts wear out over the years and with accumulated mileage.

The main pulley's vibration damper contains rubber that degrades over time and mileage. When it fails, it produces a noticeable squealing sound and can result in a loss of battery charging or power steering.

General Comments:

It’s a spectacular car. Although I bought it with low mileage, it was still a six-year-old used car.

Even so, and despite being a premium vehicle, it seems to have the kind of reliability you’d expect from a car built 30 years ago.

The interior is incredibly comfortable, and driving it is a sheer pleasure; needless to say, it boasts all the luxury typical of a BMW, complete with top-tier features. The light brown leather seats are exceptionally plush and comfortable—simply stunning. You feel like an emperor as you drive for miles and miles along the open road.

The 2.0-liter diesel engine deserves special mention. One might think that, being only a 2.0-liter, it would lack power, but quite the opposite is true. It performs excellently in the car, runs quietly (except at startup), and offers very low fuel consumption (under 6 L/100 km during normal, not sluggish, driving). It is very capable when overtaking and accelerating. It requires nothing more than routine maintenance and has proven very reliable so far, even though I haven't yet reached the 100,000 km mark.

Very good brakes and acceleration, excellent steering and handling. It is pleasant to drive, even in heavy city traffic. The diesel version really scores points for fuel economy in that regard.

In short, besides being a safe, reliable, and easy-to-drive luxury car equipped with every conceivable feature, it is fuel-efficient and will save you money on gas. You couldn't ask for more.
