1996 Citroen Xantia 2.0i

Summary:

I wouldn't leave home without it

Faults:

The faults in my car were caused by poor maintenance by the previous owner. For example, the spheres in my car are on their way to hell.. I have replaced the rear spheres and I'm going to overhaul the suspensions.

The car had overheating problems because the previous owner put in a stupid japanese fan and modified the fan wiring. Got the original fan working and never had any problems since.

I have not checked the strut mountings for cracks, and I'm going to do it soon before it shoots out.

General Comments:

On the whole.. the Xantia is a fun and wonderful car to drive. I look forward to driving it everyday.

The suspension system is a dream, which makes you feel like you are floating over highways. The car corners effortlessly, giving me a kinda feeling that I can do almost anything while driving.

After I finish my work on the Xantia, I will get an XM!!

Go get the XM! I just returned to Johor Bahru from Kuala Lumpur. I have a 1991 XM series 1, Bought it about 3 months back. Already made 4 trips to Kuala Lumpur in the XM (each return trip is 800kms). Absolutely fantastic car.

Today's trip I used the Semenyih-Broga-Mantin back roads... an absolute leech of a car.

No regrets getting the XM. Shortly I will head for Kota Tinggi from Johor Bahru... I am still fresh from the Kuala Lumpur trip.!!!

1997 Citroen Xantia 2.0i 8v

Summary:

Confidence

Faults:

The front fog lamp is a major pain to put in place.

Right front link rod failed at 110,000km.

Right front brake unit jammed up, had to change a brand new unit. It caused a bent brake disc, had to get a new set of disc brake.

General Comments:

The car has a very comfortable ride. It is the very first European made car I've owned. Certainly more comfortable than a year 2000 Proton Wire 5 door hatchback 1.5L.

15" standard rim adds weight to the car, the vehicle is stable when cruising on the freeway.

The car feels absolutely safe on the road. It gives me a secure feeling when I'm on the move.

Back seat is the best seat!!

Engine is noisy to say the least; However noise insulation is relatively good.

I wish the automatic transmission is smoother.

The steering wheel is a little disappointing, it feels lifeless!

1995 Citroen Xantia 2.0 A 2.0 petrol

Summary:

A very good bargain, since it has a very low secondhand value

Faults:

Rear suspension did not respond when I first bought the car. I replaced 2 rear spheres and everything is fine.

The air-condition is very cool, but the controls for the blower speed and thermostat were not functioning when I first acquired the car. To this day I have not yet got it fixed.

General Comments:

It is a serious tourer, and can cover long distances in great comfort thanks to the excellent suspension system.

It has good brakes too.
