2008 Hyundai Tiburon FX (GK) 2.0

Faults:

Nothing wrong!

General Comments:

Got this test car back home for few days.

Surprisingly it performed good for a Korean car.

Permormance: Score 7

The 2L engine pumps out 141 horses and 19kg torque.

Able to make a run to 100 with in 9.5s.

Easily go to 170-200kmh without hesitation.

However the 4 speed transmission kind of a drawback for the 2008 model.

Nevertheless the sports mode seems to make it up to it.

The Korean tyres are totally useless.

Need to be a good driver to drive it in either wet or dry surface.

Tried a turning at 140km during bad rain.

Able to make it thru (driving in sports mode while semi drifted, however the rear geometry responded well hence make the car back on track).

Would suggest other driver to change to better tyres.

Reliability: Score 8

Nothing wrong and can relay on the entire system: ABS, EBD, EBA & EPS/TCS.

Comfort: Score 7

On nicely pave road, the car handles well.

However it will bounce here and there on uneven surface.

Its typical for sports tuned suspension.

Overall:

Not bad for a MYR130K coupe.

2008 Hyundai Tiburon GK 2.0

Summary:

Just OK due to terrible service support in Malaysia

Faults:

Ordered myself a brand new 2008 Hyundai Tiburon, even though my recently purchased i10 (first registered for consumer) had a major problem.

During the collection day, I noticed the car's left indicator (signal) was not functioning. All left: front, interior & rear. The light was static (not blinking).

Eventually, it took Hyundai's so called expert about 130 minutes to rectify the problem.

They had taken everything out from the car: battery etc and put them on the floor. Oh god, surely ripping my heart.

Finally they found out the wire was not connected.

Very funny as the car was taken to PDI/Puspakom check prior registration in Malaysia @JPJ.

Hence I rejected the car.

They gave me a new car.

This car is just OK.

Guess what???

The exterior is more terrible then my first Tiburon.

The joints at the bumper are not proper.

Can see a gap about 0.5cm below front main light (above the bumper).

Some joint appear to be off-set about 2-3mm from the body.

OK, do I deserve this?

After paying for RM133,000 for a piece of crap?

Sadly the technical support here is worse.

General Comments:

Purchased the car due to its unique handling.

Eventually sticks on the road like glue (changed the tyres of course).

The power is just OK: pops 141BHP and gets you to 100 in 9.5s.

Only thing is the build quality is poor.

And the support service is even worse.

I also have one, though mine is a 2003. Nothing wrong so far except changing the shock absorbers. You mentioned you had a previous Tiburon? Which model was that?

Best looking car for the money in its category. Add an air intake and it solves everything.
