2001 Chrysler Concorde LX 2.7 V6

Faults:

Needed new tires, when I got it.

The right front turn signal doesn't work (because the socket isn't there).

The alternator went out at 234,000 miles.

It has an oil leak.

The power steering makes a lot of noise when it's cold outside.

General Comments:

This car is pretty tough.

I am a mechanic, so I know all about the whole "Oh my god, never get the 2.7, it sucks" side of it.

The fact is this; I got the car for 1000 bucks. The guy was asking 1500, I asked him if that was his bottom dollar, and he said he would take 1000, so I paid him.

I bought it as a cheap car for the gas mileage, because not only is this car big and comfy, but mine has been getting a consistent 22mpg city, and 30mpg highway.

So, running/driving/gas efficient/comfortable/etc. it was worth the 1000 bucks, even with the 2.7.

Well, let me tell you, it's all about how you drive it, folks. I don't drive like a dumb kid, I cruise around in this thing. With everyone always talking about how bad the 2.7 is, they are really just saying it's not teenager proof. Mine was adult owned up until 230k miles, when I got it, and now I have had it long enough to put 11k more miles on it, and aside from the expected problems, like alternators, tires, etc. nothing has left me stranded.

It holds temperature, it handles OK, it is comfy, it is good on gas, and when I did the most recent oil change, only a half quart came out. That's right, this car has been running for who knows how long on only a half quart of oil, and it has not shown a single sign of problems. I changed the oil, continue to drive it, and it feels like it has definitely been money well spent.

I just have a question, going to get a 2001 Concorde tomorrow with the 2.7 in it for my daughter... This car has 29,000 miles, yes, only 29,000 miles on it. I am kinda scared with all the reviews on this motor... What can I tell her about driving it, so that I don't end up with the bill for a new motor anytime soon, or at all??

2001 Chrysler Concorde LX-i 2.7 V6

Summary:

Great low-cost luxury car with good gas mileage and plenty of room

Faults:

Transmission had to be rebuilt after 87,000 miles.

Trunk hydraulics do not hold heavy trunk after 75,000 miles, must watch head.

Brakes and rotors replaced at 70,000 miles and 119,000 miles.

Passenger inside door handle broke in cold weather (plastic).

Weatherstripping falling down left rear passenger window.

Corrosion on pipe coming from radiator into motor; replaced before corroding through at 110,000 miles. Very difficult job requiring 3 hours to complete.

General Comments:

Never had a better cruising vehicle for long road trips.

The car is slow on takeoff due to its small V6, but cruises 100 MPH easily without you even realizing. Averages 28-30 MPG on road trips.

Largest trunk I've ever had in any vehicle; will hold many bags, fishing poles and golf clubs.

Tires last 50,000-60,000 miles easily if aligned and balanced.

2001 Chrysler Concorde LXI 2.7L 24v DOHC

Summary:

A great luxury sedan for anybody..

Faults:

The original battery needed replaced shortly after I bought the car; I came out one day and it wouldn't start. I'm surprised the original battery lasted that long!!!

Some lights on the dash guages burned out and had to have these replaced... low cost and simple fix, now they are like new.

Nothing else to report...

General Comments:

This Concorde still looks and drives like brand new.

Still smells like new inside.

The leather interior is in perfect condition.

The car has stunning looks and design features, looks like a much more expensive luxury car.

I change the oil myself and always use synthetic, I have never had any issues with the 2.7L engine. It still runs and sounds like new, plus it has a lot of power when you need it!!!

Excellent highway cruiser!!!

This Concorde is perfect for long highway trips, it's VERY comfortable, TONS OF ROOM, very quiet and smooth even at 80-90 mph. It doesn't even feel like you are going 90 mph, so watch out on the highways!!!

Has every luxury feature and option you could ever want... lots of neat little buttons and secret features you might not know about...

A lot of car for the money.

I still get compliments on the car, even though it's almost 10 years old and has over 100k miles.
