1992 Mazda MX3 1.6L Gasoline

Summary:

A sporty fast compact that fits into any budget

Faults:

I bought this vehicle in Sept. of 2003, when I drove it home, I noticed a miss-fire in the engine. I thought that it was only the spark plugs or wires, so I replaced those and that didn't help, but I gained horse power. I just recently found out that the miss is caused by a faulty Fuel Injector for my third Cylindar.

Other than that, I have had no problems out of this car.

General Comments:

The Mazda MX3 is a great car for the soon to be racer, what it lacks in take-off it makes up for in top end. I am only running on 3/4 Cylindars and I am still able to run 140Mph. on the Interstate.

The handling of this car is outstanding, with this Sport Compact design, the Mazda MX3 is by far the best handling vehicle I have ever owned or driven.

This vehicle is very dependable, easy to maintain, and cost-efficient.

I highly recommend this vehicle for anyone who wants a sporty car with excellent gas mileage.

MX-3 4 banger tops out at about 100 mph...MX-3 V6 (which I have) tops out about 125. That and the mx isn't geared to go 140. It'd be cool if it could go that fast, but it would probably take flight by then lol.

I agree, could just about get 120 out of mine, and even then I feel like I'm flying through turbulence.

Yeah man I am with them guys I have a 2.0l v6 from japan I can get up to about 135mph, and that is all I think you were talking in kph and just messed up, no biggie peace!

Actually, I have a 4 cylinder mx-3 and believe it or not I got that up to 145 mph and it has 181000 miles on it. maybe my speedometer is off, but I don't think so. boys get your cars looked at, there might be something wrong with them!!

1992 Mazda MX3 GS 1.8 V6

Summary:

One of the best cars for the performance minded individual!

Faults:

Battery had to be replaced. Valve gasket replaced.

General Comments:

Hi all.

This is my first car, and I find that I'm dusting a lot of Honda's and other imports with it.

The small 1.8L is very responsive, and I've recently added a cold air intake, which gives more of a torque boost around 4500 RPM. Also, I've noticed when I use 94+ octane, that boost is felt sooner at about 3500 rpm (approx).

I love the handling of this car! The GS comes with sport suspension, rear stabilizer bar and a stiff front suspension that makes handling corners at 70 km/h possible! It feels very nimble, and agile, still without losing control.

The braking is decent, although I haven't actually done a hard braking session.

The interior (front) is comfortable for people up to 6'2, but the back is very small. I suggest removing the backseat to make room for speakers!

The trunk space is massive, but makes squeaky noises because of all the plastic lining. So I've removed all that... nobody sees those things anyway.

This car is 12 years old, but runs like a 5 year old car.

As for parts, I am coming to realize that eBay has many parts for the MX3. From timing belts, water pumps, alternators, brake pads, rotors, lights, etc. I've purchased a new performance muffler at a very cheap price; HID headlight bulbs; car stereo all from eBay.

Other great sites include: www.corksport.com

My future goals is to swap the J-spec 2.5L motor into the MX-3. There is a shop in Toronto Ontario that does it for $3000, but they also change the front suspension and front rotors to the bigger stiffer ones of the MX6!

Other goals include:

Balanced engine

Ported intake manifold

Lightened flywheel; stronger clutch

Lightened crankshaft pulley

A/C removed

Transmission cooler

Oil bypass reservoir

Aluminum radiator

Where do I find a cold air intake for the v6 dohc model. every cold air intake I see says it is for the 4 cylinder sohc. I think this is bull%$@#. every intake on ebay says this I was wondering what cold air intake you have for you mx3.

For an intake you should custom fabricate one. Or use an intake off a ford probe gt. Because the probe gt and the mx3 have the same engine. (24 valve DOHC V6)

Whoever wanted to know where to find a cold air intake. I found that the best one made is by Weapon R. You'll get better HP and torque gain if you use this intake.
