1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.4

Summary:

Looks good, but not worth the pain

Faults:

Bought this car summer of 2002.

Nightmare started three days later.

Electrical problems galore.

Gets stuck in top gear and does not shift automatically, so I had...

Had solenoid replaced.

Had transmission replaced.

Had the computer replaced.

Had the battery replaced.

Above mentioned problem keeps resurfacing on a fairly regular basis.

General Comments:

This car looks good.

Feels comfortable to drive in.

However, too many problems keep happening with it.

1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0

Summary:

GS with turbo is a nice ride

Faults:

Sunroof track clip broke, won't close properly if completely opened.

NOISY interior ride.

Speedometer keeps breaking.

Excessive tire wear (part my fault!)

General Comments:

Power wasn't impressive, so added a STAR turbo kit, now it scoots pretty well!!

I'm 6'4", so it's pretty cramped, but feels like a cockpit. Had to extend the steering wheel out so wheel/knee/shifting hand weren't always touching.

Shifter feels sloppy, not very positive gating. Wasn't happy with ratios at first, but have gotten used to them. Still wish for a 6th gear!

Give the engine SERIOUS GOOD MARKS, as I was road tripping last winter, and my air filter iced up. Still had my PCV hooked up, so turbo sucked 4 qts oil out of the crank case. It ran I don't know how long on 1 qt, at 80mph!!! All that happened is I lost about 1-1.5" vacuum at idle, so it did get into the rings a bit.

1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0 DOHC

Summary:

Fast sporty and irresistible little zippy car

Faults:

Strut towers rusted (under the hood), almost causing the vehicle to be undriveable. The car seems to be rusting from the inside out.

The clear coat and paint starting cracking at 100,000 miles.

The rubber-coated door accent pieces dried out and chipped off.

Vehicle alignment is frequently problematic. Frequently replacing brake pads, rotors, and having the vehicle re-aligned.

Power sunroof is noisy. Seal is good, but it constantly creeks.

General Comments:

The car has held up well being driven daily in all weather conditions. Despite hearing poor comments from others about this year, make and model, I have found my Eclipse to be very reliable. It still receives compliments, and people are surprised to hear its age and mileage. Comfort is a problem, however, and it's impossible to fit anyone in the back seat. With a few modifications - including paint, wheels, tires and brakes - this car will continue to be a fun, showy car. I expect to surpass 200,000 miles with regular oil changes.

1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse gst 2.0 turbo

Summary:

The ultimate driving experience

Faults:

The pulley came off of my power steering pump at about 95000 miles, resulting in having to buy a whole new pump. Whoever worked on the car previous to me buying it obviously did not put it back together properly. The next day I had to replace the fuel pump.

General Comments:

This car is wicked fast. Before buying this car, never would I have ever imagined such raw power from such a small car. Car handles just as well as it runs. Wicked fast and fun to drive.

1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 2.0 DOHC

Summary:

Perfect for me

Faults:

I had the battery replaced, so I need the radio code (anyways I'll buy a new radio)besides that everything is running ok despite the high miles (highway) and since I live in Florida the lovebugs are destroying my paint

General Comments:

I just love eclipses, but I really want a GST or GSX is there any way to upgrade my GS?

Yes, you can upgrade your car by putting a turbocharger in it. It will make it a little faster than the GS-T.
