2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 3.0 V6

Summary:

Beauty, performance, reliability, comfort, economy and versatility make this a winner

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Unless one can afford a stable of cars, compromises must be made. The 2000 Mistubishi GT seemed like the ideal compromise car for me. One year and 30,000 miles have proven me correct.

With the only modification being cold air induction, I have never had a car that offered performance, economy, reliabilty, versatility, comfort and beauty in a combination to match this car.

When I first bought it, I took an 1,800 mile vacation trip. I averaged 32 m.p.g. As an outside sales rep., I average about 1,200 miles per month plus personal/pleasure driving. In this year, my average fuel economy is 27 mpg. The interior is very comfortable with enough adjustment to make it so for just about anyone. The backseat folds completely flat for surprisingly generous cargo space.

Reliability is astonishing.

Handling is very good. Were it not for considerable torque steer from a standing start, it would be great. Thick windshield columns make outward vision less than ideal, but that's why God gave us a movable head and neck.

One important tip. Get the best and stickiest tires you can afford. Otherwise, the very wide tires can be hazardous on wet roads.

Would I buy another? At the rate this one is going, I'll be able to leave it to someone in my will, and I'm only 61 and very healthy.

Your review seems to be rather positive. I can't understand why you wouldn't purchase another Mitsubishi as a result.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse RS 2.4 i4

Summary:

Love the car, and you should too

Faults:

A hard starter sometimes.

Shifter is sometimes very reluctant to downshift.

Horrible turning radius, can barely pull out of a parking spot in one pass.

General Comments:

The car is very quick for a four banger, and pulls very good in third or fourth.

However it's pretty lifeless until about

about 3,000 RPM.

The shifting is excellent, with clean short throws.

The overall look inside and out is very clean, and turns many heads.

The ergonomics are very good, except for lacking a telescoping wheel, and the placement of the drink cup holders.

This car does satisfy my need for speed all the time. Especially its exhilarating exhaust, which I could compare to a detuned rice burner.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 4 cylinder

Summary:

One major problem, but nice looking

Faults:

I have had this car for about 4 years and I have had to replace the rotors once. Also, I had to have the rotors turned 4 or 5 times in the past 2 years.

The car shakes when you go to brake if you are going above 40 miles. (Which you always are)

General Comments:

I love the look of the car, but I am not sure if I will be getting another Eclipse.

2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 6 speed

Summary:

Great overall car

Faults:

The clear gloss on the front left headlight is pealing off.

The steering wheel has small flaws I suppose due to usage.

The cup holder, well, I am not too sure why the rubber part just came out when I first purchased the car.

The paint seems to have worn and chipped a little bit.

The SRS airbag light was a problem for a little while, but it went away.

The back surface of the seats scratch very badly.

The trunk lock only wants to unlock the very first time every other time I try to open it.

The interior lights really do not provide a lot of light in the dark.

General Comments:

I really love this car for many reasons.

I love the over drive of the car.

I love the overall appearance of the car.

The doors and trunk are so heavy. The doors will swing open if you do not watch them.

The sound system is good quality.

I love the four disk CD changer.

You should use a sun block on the black leather seats often so as not to fade them.
