1991 Mitsubishi Galant LS

Summary:

Reliable and Economical

Faults:

CV boot replaced.

Motor mounts replaced.

General Comments:

This is a very reliable and economical car. I bought it used last year, and although it is nearly 15 years old, it is still in great condition. The paint still looks great and the interior has held up well. It requires very little maintenance, just an oil change every three months. Also, I have been tracking the gas mileage, and I average around 31 mpg, but my best record is around 35 mpg, which is really good since gas is so expensive! Overall a really good car!

1991 Mitsubishi Galant GSR 2.0 DOHC

Summary:

I have a new mustang- I drive the Galant

Faults:

Mechanic caused several valves to melt, thus warping the head- not the car's fault.

Electronic controlled suspension went out.

Freon in the AC ran out.

General Comments:

Bought brand new for 22,000 in 1991.

Never had major problems with car minus the faulty mechanic.

Handles like a dream even today.

Still gets 28 MPG.

Loving the dashboard color change and dimmer switch.

Came with acid-rain protectant top coat paint. Seven coats of paint were given to the GSR's. Today it still sparkles and is flawless.

1991 Mitsubishi Galant GS 16v DOHC

Summary:

Solid high-performance machine

Faults:

Very minor dents.

Tires worn out.

Rough shifts of Automatic transmission (acceptable level)

Carbon deposits in engine and Fuel system - Engine belches a bout of dark smoke while changing oil!

Broken control switches and locks.

Squeaking brakes.

Occasional problem of engine halt at very low speeds (probably engine deposits).

No airbags.

Uneven tire wear gives some minor rocking motion at high speeds.

General Comments:

I thought only Volvo, Mercedes and SAABs make sturdy vehicles. This car changed my view entirely! Its built like a battle tank. Not a single speck of rusting metal anywhere! When the door snaps shut, you feel what a real car feels like!

The engine is a gem. I ditched my idea of buying a new car after test driving this!

The looks are stunning. Even today's cars suck in front of this. A majestic look which is suitable for a executive and a Bold and sporty look that fits a sportsman! Elegant styling.

Totally made in Japan and imported (I heard only 2000 of these gems entered the American Market)

I just gave a buff for the paintwork and the car gleams like a diamond. Great paint job.

Drives like a rock. Hugs to the road beautifully. Speed doesn't affect the stability not even to the tiniest extent!

Handling is awesome. For a car of such size, it handles like a super-mini car!

Fast. Real fast.
