2002 Mitsubishi Lancer ES 2.0 SOHC

Summary:

This is a great car and would have another

Faults:

The seals around the wiper blades went bad and water leaked onto the fan and it was covered under warranty. A water drain got clogged up with leaves and they got flushed out for free by the dealer. Replaced all the steel rims and tires.

General Comments:

This is a great car and rides real smooth. I put a set of 16inch rims on it. I had to the factory rims were bent that bad. the tires 7.5 inches wide it handles so much better now. I put a KN air filter and bought a adaptor plate on the airflow sensor to install the KN open air filter and now it breathes really good. It cost me 60 dollars to do all that. Compared to the 250 dollar kit I would have to buy to make that.

2002 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally 2.0

Summary:

OK car, minor issues

Faults:

Rotors and brakes had to be replaced very early on.

Rust/Corrosion on (3) inside door jams within first 1 and 2 years, fixed under warranty, but now is back and they won't fix unless it rusts through, leaving a hole.

Seats springs squeak.

Drivers side seat belt clip (where you put the seat belt in...) sometimes doesn't clip in all the way, and is sometimes hard to get out. Red button sticks. This will be great if I get into an accident.

Paint is pretty cheap. Scratches EASILY!

Vibrating noise in passenger side that the dealer can't hear, EVER.. but it is undoubtedly there.

General Comments:

Nothing major or mechanical, but the brakes and rotors, rust are ridiculous things.

Why only repair rust if it rusts through? Oh, because they don't think you will wait that long to fix it and will do it from your own wallet.

Car is very good. I bought it brand new and it has been a great vehicle. I am just not sure about the quality of materials that mitsubishi uses.

2002 Mitsubishi Lancer ES

Summary:

A very reliable people mover!

Faults:

A small leak in the oil filter at about 60,000 miles.

The front left hub cap fell off.

Other very minor problems (such as the transmission tends to skip very slightly).

General Comments:

I got this car as previous rental, and had another owner after that, and now that it is in my possession, it still runs very well with some minor problems.

I have had it for two years and I still love it. It handles very well on city streets to freeways, and it looks sharp. I am constantly driving my friends because they say I have the most comfortable car.

I have had some minor problems, such as a leak in my oil filter, and a wire that sticks out from the trunk, but the biggest problem was my missing hub cap. Albeit, it is just cosmetic, but that shows how durable my car has been to 60,000 miles.

I also wish it had a more powerful air conditioner, but that's about the only real complaint I have.

2002 Mitsubishi Lancer Cannot remember... 4 cyclinder

Summary:

If you need reliable, buy this car!

Faults:

Very reliable car overall. I have replaced the struts twice, with the first time being under warranty. I do drive several miles a day on bumpy dirt roads so I am assuming that this has a bit to do with the strut issues. The idle sensor was also replaced, but the mechanic who replaced the struts the second time I believe damaged the part. (When I took the car in for the struts it idled fine, and stalled constantly upon pick up from the strut repair.) Otherwise, it has been an amazingly reliable car. It runs as well now as the day that I bought it.

General Comments:

I would purchase this car again. We use it for a commuter car as it gets reasonably good gas mileage. We also put three kids in the back (12 and under) for our shorter trips. Not a huge car, but it feels like a Cadillac next to our Kia Rio.

2002 Mitsubishi Lancer Automatic

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car.

Replaced front brake pads at 40000.

General Comments:

Very reliable automobile, I feel like this car will run forever.

The ride is a little rough, although it handles real well, and is fairly comfortable for a small car.
