1997 Nissan Pathfinder EX 3.3

Summary:

An overall great ride!

Faults:

After 100,000 plus miles I replaced the brakes twice and front struts.

Still looks brand new! Just a few dents on the exterior.

General Comments:

This a great truck that is still able to compete with today's SUVs.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder LE 3.3

Summary:

Worst car I have ever owned in my life

Faults:

This SUV is terrible. I have never in my life had a worse car than this. That's including a 1986 Honda CRX that had 156K miles on it. I Have had in one year over 10 problems. From brakes, to starter, to shocks, to exhaust, to speedometer and all the way back to brakes again. And I know I am forgetting somethings. Don't waste your money on this SUV. It also has really bad gas mileage.

General Comments:

This car had bad handling and shocks go out like everytime you turn around. Bad gas mileage. No power. Loud engine noise. Bad radio and speakers. The ONLY positive thing I have to say about this car is it has good room in the back. But that is standard for an SUV. Everything else is terrible.

You stated that you aquired the car with 75 thousand miles. Think about how the previous owner may have treated the car. Sometimes when you buy a used car you don't know what you are getting. That is why I buy brand new, because I know how to care for my vehicles. Unfortunately some people just put gas and drive. They never even check their fluid levels.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder SE 3.3

Summary:

Solid performer with style

Faults:

Nothing mechanically has gone wrong with this vehicle. However, the moonroof sunshade has fallen off it's track as a result of the metal clips snagging and breaking. Am trying to locate a used one since the dealer would really love to charge me over $400 to repair!! Come on, It's a piece of cardboard with some felt on it!!

General Comments:

This is one great vehicle. Feels very solid for it's mileage. Like the exterior and interior design. Does not look dated.

Very nice sound system.

Very comfortable on long trips. Like the heated leather seats.

Fairly decent pick-up, but very poor gas mileage. Most SUV's are not, so whatcha gonna do.

Great value for what I paid.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder

Summary:

Tough to tell

Faults:

I had to have new tires put on twice. I have little rattles all over the place. Belts have been tightened twice. In the winter I get maybe 12 miles per gallon if I'm lucky. And that's not even driving in 4 wheel drive. I had to replace the entire exhaust at 60000 miles, and it is showing signs of wear again.

General Comments:

Overall, it is a good car. I drive a lot of miles so some of the problems are to be expected. For a four wheel drive car though, I do not feel safe on wet or snowy roads. The back end tends to slide around a bit. I felt a lot safer in my Integra in bad weather. Even with the noise and miles, the engine is still powerful enough to get moving. The seats can be a little tough on the lower back on long trips.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder XE 3.3

Summary:

A reliable and first-class Sports Utility Vehicle

Faults:

Replaced the front struts at 70,000.

Compact disc player doesn't eject the disc occasionally.

Parts are expensive to replace, when needing replacement.

General Comments:

Extremely comfortable and quiet on rough roads.

Very expensive feeling, from the sound of the doors closing to the click on the gear shift.

Some cheap plastics used throughout the cabin.

Plows through snow, ice and mud.

Gas consumption is fairly high and power is fairly short.

Very comfortable seats, great on long trips.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder XE 3.3L

Summary:

Nice looking, comfy and trouble-free!!

Faults:

Nothing yet except an annoying rattling in the area of the passenger-side air bag.

General Comments:

Engine is I think a little too underpowered for this vehicle.

Gas mileage is on the high side.

I am sixteen and was thinking about getting a pathfinder after what I read I'm not so sure if I want one anymore. Thanks for your help.

1997 Nissan Pathfinder SE 3.3

Faults:

Nothing, although it had recall concerning tire rotation and a new muffler.

General Comments:

The BOSE auto sound system is the best in the world. Unfortunately the plastic trim around the speakers is not. Too many rattles from a 30k auto.

Excellent ride for an SUV, better than most cars.

Engine roars like a bus, and is a bit underpowered.

All-in-all, I like the truck, but I am not sure of getting another Nissan. I've had two Hondas before it, and miss the Honda-like quality.
