1992 Oldsmobile 98 Regency 3.8 liter

Summary:

One of the world's most trustworthy and family oriented luxury cars ever made

Faults:

Harmonic Balancer

Transmission

Catalytic Converter

Rear passenger window motor

Fuel filter

Plugs and Wires.

General Comments:

I love this car.

It is very comfortable and very easily maintained. Even with all the miles it runs smooth still. I just had the converter changed last week and I will have the fuel filter changed this week. I drive it everywhere, to church, on trips to the beach, and I deliver pizzas as my part time job at night. I really love the radio and heat controls on the steering wheel.

I have looked for another one like it because I would love to own another one. I would definitely recommend this car to anyone. It is a car I would trust my teenager driving.

My car now has 298,100+ miles. She is still running strong.

1992 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Elite 3.8L

Summary:

This car has been great... would love to have another

Faults:

Starters are replaced periodically.

Have a difficult time keeping the steering wheel control buttons from falling off.

The leather was already wearing slightly when we got the car.

General wear and tear with this many miles.

General Comments:

This car has been a reliable cruiser for our family. Many compliments from passengers over the years on the comfortable and quiet ride.

Hard to find a car with more trunk space.

I was reluctant to obtain this car (thought it an old persons car. <snicker>) until we took it for a test ride.. then I was hooked. Amazing how a simple window tint spiffied her up. Now I'm concerned we won't be able to find another to replace it with.

Mechanically, its been with a minimum of issues. No major repairs or problems. Typical maintenance issues with wear and tear with so many miles.

1992 Oldsmobile 98 Regency Elite 3.8 V6

Summary:

I'd keep on buying this one, love it

Faults:

There has been an intermittent problem with the Air Conditioner - I believe the ambient sensor may have a loose connection. The unit blows colder than the Arctic - when it works!

General Comments:

General Motors really did a nice job when they conceived the Ninety-Eight Regency Elite.

The vehicle is luxuriously appointed, and quick enough to keep up with the average Highway traffic.

The smooth V6 motor and transmission are quiet even under hard acceleration. When you do have to give this car the boot, it responds effortlessly, and impressively.

There's ample room inside the cabin to swing a cat, and passengers will be cosseted by the nicely set up suspension, which will soak up the bumps like they didn't even exist.

This car is made for the highway. Fuel consumption is pretty good for such a large car, especially with judicious use of the loud pedal.

The ride is soft, and almost floaty. Having stated that, the car corners with confidence, and with only a small amount of body roll.

Driving impressions: Feels like you should drive this car in a somewhat stately manner. You can cruise all day between fuel stops and emerge still smiling. Love the relaxed American cruiser, and this car is pretty close to the epitome.

Wish they'd made the front passengers window just a few inches wider. The pillar is just a little awkward, but then I am probably just trying to pick a fault.

The paint has lasted very well, and the car looks just like it came out of the showroom. I like the color scheme, and the panel fit. There's a solid, very dependable feel about the car.

1992 Oldsmobile 98 Regency

Summary:

Not a cheap car, but well worth the price

Faults:

Alternator has had to be replaced twice.

Have replaced water pump.

Had to replace a/c condenser at about 150,000 miles.

General Comments:

One of the most comfortable riding cars I have ever owned and has all the "bells and whistles."

Car seems to prefer mid-grade fuel.

Still looks great inside and out. People don't believe it is a '92.

Car is still going strong--I plan to keep it until either it quits or I do!

I just recently bought a '92 98 touring sedan. Former owner dogged this car. 2 inches of sludge in the oil pan, passenger seat top half ripped off. Body still in good condition. I'm currently putting it back together. This will be a beautiful car again. I LOVE THIS CAR!
