2004 Oldsmobile Alero Last 500 V6

Summary:

I currently own 2 Alero's. It used to be 3 before my daughter got married.

Faults:

I have had no repairs needed so far on the car.

General Comments:

This version of the car has a tighter suspension which makes handling quick and accurate.

The only annoying characteristic is a noisy drivers side window when it is both windy outside and traveling at 55mph or more.

The V-6 provides plenty of power, but is not the most economical. I have been averaging about 23mpg on highway trips.

I find the interior both good looking and comfortable.

I love owning one of the last 500 of the Alero's. I think it is great 4 passenger car with sporty looks and excellent handling.

2004 Oldsmobile Alero GLS 3.4L V6

Summary:

A very solid car that is well worth the money

Faults:

The only repair that I have done was self-inflicted. the first winter that I had the car, I didn't wash the very often. As a result, the slides for the front brake pads became corroded and then the bads stuck. I wore through the inner pads and had to replace the front pads and rotors at 25,000 km. The nice thing about owning a domestic car is that parts are cheap. Front rotors were only $17 CDN each at the local parts store and ceramic pads were only $70 CDN. When spoke to my local dealer, they said that they would cover the cost of the repair under warranty, but I decided to do the repairs myself due to my work schedule.

General Comments:

The Alero I purchased is a top of the line GLS Eurosport (which I think was only available in 2004). This package includes side marker lights, sport tuned suspension, tuned exhuast, plus all the other GLS options (V6, leather, spoiler, sunroof, high polish rims, etc.)

As far as four door mid size cars go, this car performs and handles great. It is by no means a sports car, but it does exceptionally well for $32,000 CDN. I have owned several cars over the years and it is a shame that GM discontinued the Oldsmobile division because I would definitely buy another one.

We know a couple other people who own Alero's and they are both very pleased with the car. One of them was in a serious accident shortly after buying the car. A minivan pulled out of a driveway in front of our friend and our friend didn't even have time to hit the brakes before hitting the minivan at over 90km/h (55 MPH). Both vehicles were written off and our friend walked away with only bruises from the seat belt. He was so impressed with how it stood up in an accident that he replaced his Alero with a new one.

Our other friend who has a 2002 Alero has over 150,000 km and has only done routine maintenance and has had no problems.

I own a 2004 Alero GLS and for the price you can't beat it. Lots of power, great radio and it looks good.

2004 Oldsmobile Alero 3.4L SFI V6

Summary:

This is the best car I have ever owned!

Faults:

There has not been a single thing that has gone wrong with this car since I have owned it, I absolutely love it.

General Comments:

This car handles so much better than all of the other cars that I have ever owned. The seats are comfortable for long drives and there stereo is really good. I especially like it because of how sporty it looks.

I haven't had any problems with mine yet, *knock on wood* My '04 Alero is the best car I've ever had, too! I love the comfy seats and sleek looks - a mix of classic and new, sporty and sedate...

I have owned a 2004 Alero now for a few months, and so far I am very impressed. I have heard a lot of negative things from other reviews, but there are some good and bad in every brand.
