2000 Oldsmobile Bravada 4.3 V6

Faults:

The first thing to go wrong was the A/C right after we bought it.

Then it was the transmission around 80,000. This was the most expensive repair.

I have changed all 4 ball joints, upper control arm bushings, idler arm, fuel pump water pump, radiator, tension pulley, A/C condenser and compressor, and just yesterday the rear brake calipers. It's a good car, it only breaks at home, never had to be towed.

I've done all the work myself except the tranny and A/C. Parts are not that expensive, so I'm happy with a 9 year old car with 138,000 on it.

The heater problem is the control unit on the dash. Mine is bad too, but I live in Hawaii and really don't need heat.

I am also a auto body technician, and 90% of the time hinges wear out because people use the door to get in and out of instead the body of the car.

And for the guy who's doors won't stay open... you need new door checks. It's what keeps the doors open.

2000 Oldsmobile Bravada 4.3L VTec V6

Summary:

Ideal if power and AWD are needed

Faults:

The AWD Transfer Case went out at 60000 miles. It was replaced with a used part which went bad at 70,000 miles. A rebuilt Transfer Case was installed and still working at 107,000 miles. Each repair cost $1500.

There was an electrical short which caused the turn signal to go off sparadically.

The aluminum rims were warped by 70,000 miles.

General Comments:

The engine had plenty of power with 5,000 lbs being towed and good pick up.

The best highway mpg was about 18.5 at 70 mph. Around town, anything from 9mpg to 16mpg.

The AWD and anti-lock brakes were very nice on ice and snow. Never got stuck and never went into a ditch in Michigan winters.

2000 Oldsmobile Bravada AWD 4.3

Summary:

Problem from the start, but love the comfort it gives

Faults:

I have only owned this car for a year now; I traded my last car for a vehicle that has more power and room.

Since I got this vehicle, I have had to replace:

The brake system twice.

The fuel line.

The return fuel line.

A leak in the transmission.

Ignition key compartment tends to hot turn to let the key come out.

Front drive shafts had to be replaced.

Oil is not getting to the engine some how, and causing the engine to shake and make a noise.

General Comments:

I love this car. It has loads of room and is comfortable. I just love this car, but wish I did not have so many problems with it.

2000 Oldsmobile Bravada Platinum Edition 4.3L V

Summary:

With today's gas prices you need a thick wallet., should be able to find these cheap

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong for me since I owned it except I had to replace to alternator at 73000 miles in 2007. Brake pads around 76000 miles. My total maintenance cost to date has been around $400.

The previous owner reported having to work on the axles since he put the wrong size tires and rims on it. (bling) Cost him $2700. He also replaced the door hinge pins.

My wife is the primary driver so I need to check up on it every couple weeks. She's had at least 4 flat tires (nails, screws...) she didn't even know it has a 6 disc CD changer under the arm rest until I told her.

General Comments:

Love the AWD and heated seats.

It also has a single CD player and cassette in the dash system.

Heated seats.

Sunroof

Driver info center.

Not great on gas... 13-14 city 18-20 hwy.

Overall a safe but heavy SUV.
