2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue GLS 3.5

Summary:

Above average

Faults:

Minor issues with electrical, mostly with the control panel lights. At times the lights flicker. At first I believed there was a problem with the battery, but that was not the case. Had to replace the air pump recently. Other than that no major issues.

General Comments:

I am very satisfied with the car, I am the second owner the previous owner used to drive it to Canada from Chicago, that is why I purchased it with 71,000 miles. I have driven it an additional 70,000 miles In the past 3 years (Mostly around the Midwest). Other than maintenance such as oil changes, and tune ups (every 6-8 months) I have not spent much money on this car. It rides smooth it is quiet and comfortable. I especially like the traction control and precision control system it handles well in the snow. I am disappointed GM phased out Oldsmobile I would have wanted to get an Aurora, but hopefully Buick picks up some of the Oldsmobile designs, then I will purchase a Buick.

2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue GL 3.5

Summary:

Better than most cars& trucks I've owned

Faults:

Front Oil Seal.

Replaced tires at 58,000.

Still OE brake pads, etc.

Knob on heater/AC broke at 62,000.

Engine Service light stays on all the time.

Turn signals work when they want to work.

General Comments:

Second Olds I have owned. Both have been great cars. Quick with optional performance ratio, but the mileage suffers a bit because of it also. Probably be the last car we will ever own as the new ones are far to expensive, just to pay the taxes on them would replace most any "service" problem we could have with this vehicle.

We keep it well maintained overall, changing oil every 3000 miles, etc.

Has a valve cover gasket that's leaking on the exhaust that I need to have fixed, along with the service engine lite and the directional signal thing. Both items which will fail it upon State Inspection.

2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue GLS 3.5L twin cam (DOHC)

Summary:

Sporty, sophisticated, fast, bold

Faults:

The hazard switch has fallon in!

The rear brakes were bad at 42000m due to sitting on the lot.

The lights flicker terribly and I have replaced the alternator and there was not difference.

The air pump whines at start up at times.

The tires that are on it "Mastercrafts" wear very fast!

Oh And the transmission was replaced under Preferred auto's 100k warranty! the pressure shift silenode was bad and tore the bands up in the transmission.

General Comments:

All in all in the seven months that I have had this car I have been disappointed about the flickering lights and I'm bound and determined to find a fix "working on one now". but other than that I have taken it on several trips and I have enjoyed the ride and the gas mileage. 18 in the city and I have gotten 34 on the highway. as all in all I really like gm products. this car is very comfortable.

I am very disappointed that they stopped making Oldsmobile because I wanna another intrigue when mine wears out!

2001 Oldsmobile Intrigue

Summary:

Problems with steering and suspension

Faults:

Rear Strut replaced practically after I drove off the lot- defective to begin with.

Front tie rods replaced at 20,000 miles and again at 50,000.

Very loud noise when turning left, coming from "self check" anti-lock brake module by front driver side. Dealership says it is "normal".

Replaced power steering gear at 54,000 miles.

Vibration and "shimmy" noise coming from under front driver's side again at 64,000 miles- GM service says they can't's find anything wrong. However, the mechanic at the oil change shop I use just looked at it and told me the hub assembly needed to be replaced. Of course, GM denies this.

Head lights flicker.

Hissing noise from heater vent on certain settings.

General Comments:

This car has so much potential. it looks great and is very comfortable.

However, I believe my car was bad from the get go. The front end has always had problems. There is no reason for tie rods, struts, and a power steering gear to have to be replaced on practically a new car. Now the warranty is up and I am very worried the steering is going out and GM service says they find no problems.
