1991 Pontiac Firebird Trans-am GTA 5.7L 350cc V-8

Summary:

The Luxury Trans-Am, this is not a toy

Faults:

The fog lights have rusted and both need to be replaced. The rear gears need to be re-done (my father did them), as they have a little too much play.

The drivers seat side cushions need to be re-upholstered. Sliding in and out of the car has caused a hole in the leather.

The light inside of the trunk button has gone out, which requires an entire new button (the bulb is in enclosed inside the rocker switch).

Have had to replace the catalytic converter (1).

General Comments:

If you are a Trans-Am enthusiast, this is your dream car. After owning a 1979 10th Anniversary Trans-Am, this one is VERY distant and different from previous models.

The styling of the car, while sleek and low, must be taken care of properly. Because of such a low ground clearance, drivers must be aware of bottoming out.

For a car with a 5.7L V-8, it is excellent on gas.

This is a car that is not to be taken on the drag strip. It is Pontiac's "Luxury" Trans-Am. This is why the average age of owner in the first fiscal year of 1991-1992 was over 40 years old.

My recommendations of you have the car:

1- Watch parking blocks. Too far and you will rip the black plastic underguard right off the car.

2- I added a Flowmaster exhaust, dual pipes with quad tips. Be careful going up driveways, you will bend the pipes very easily.

3- Have fun and enjoy one of the best cars in the 1990's.

Summary:

One sweet ride

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

Absolutely solid car. Best sports car on the market. Will be sad to see the F-Body line killed in 2002.

Unbelievable first car. I'm a college student, and this car really turns heads up on campus. The performance is extraordinary and the styling is timeless. Haven't had any problems whatsoever, just a lot of enjoyment.

Real fast too... Faster than those "Mudstains" (Mustangs)... I'd recommend this car to just about anybody who appreciates the power of the Firebird.
