1999 Pontiac Grand Am SE 2.4L

Faults:

Power steering hose replaced at 1500 miles.

Headlamp replaced at 29000 miles.

Alternator replaced at 120000 miles.

Window regulators at 200000 miles.

General Comments:

Other than the small list above, it has been a very dependable vehicle. I have 238000+ miles.

It's not quite as peppy as it was when it was new, but it still gets me down the road.

2.4 liter 4 cylinder automatic transmission P225/50/R 16. So far tires have been my biggest expense. The only ticket I have received in this car was for 106 in a 55 oops! It shuts down at 108.

If they were still producing Pontiac's today, I would no doubt purchase another one.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am

Summary:

I love my car

Faults:

Since I have owned my Grand Am in the last 3 years I have had to replace the alternator, window motor, battery and lights.

The car has some interior work that needs to be done such as cracks and breakage in the defroster part of the dash. After the amount of mileage this car has accumulated, I expected these things to start happening.

General Comments:

Please do not think I am complaining about my car, I absolutely love my Pontiac Grand Am, and like it shows, I have over 200,000 miles on it, and all this stuff started happening after it rolled through that mark, so I cannot complain about my car.

It is sporty, roomy, and just really has a classy look about it.

I wish Pontiac was still manufacturing these cars. I could only imagine how impressive their newer models would be =). Needless to say, I am a very happy Grand Am owner.

1999 Pontiac Grand Am 4 cyl

Summary:

I love this car, but hate that it sucks!

Faults:

Oh boy, where to start...

I have had the car for 2 years this past September, and in that time I have put in 2 transmissions, which cost me 400 hundred both times, and that's cheap compared to some of the other quotes I got, and that's just because I knew the guy who did it. The original went out after having it flushed at a "name brand" service center, and of course it was not their fault.

I had to put a new alternator on it, along with a new battery. Came to find out it was neither of these things!

Most recently the water pump went out, and it cost me 404 to fix it, plus I bought a new pump, and took it to the mechanic another 50 something there.

In the last 2 days, my ABS light came on as well as my battery light. No tracking light... yet.

General Comments:

AND TO THOSE WHO HAVE REPORTED JUST THE BATTERY AND ALTERNATOR ISSUE: HERE IS WHAT WAS WRONG WITH MINE...

My car would start and drive, and then cut off and both of these lights would come on and go off all the FREAKING time. On the front of my starter, there was a bolt either broken or missing (I didn't fix it, the guy who found it had recently worked on another car with the same problem). They put a new one on it, and I haven't had a problem until a few days ago when I had to get the water pump fixed. And now of course there is something else wrong with the darn thing, go figure.

I'll buy a KIA the next time they do that 2 for whatever; at least then when one breaks, I'll have another.
