2000 Pontiac Grand Am GT 3.4 ram air

Summary:

Too many problems to list, this car is junk

Faults:

The blinkers work when they want to.

The locks would not work the day after I bought it.

I had to replace the engine and starter just before 69,000 miles. I take very good car of my car. It was not my fault the engine needed replacing and the warranty company tried to tell me it was.

The driver's side window broke one week after getting the new engine and starter put in. This just goes to show it is literally one problem after another.

General Comments:

I am so disappointed with the quality of this car. I have been so stressed out about it lately that I break down and cry. I owned a 2000 Sunfire before this and had no problems. I wish I would have listened to my friends who have a similar car and had the problems. I will never purchase another Pontiac again. When I contacted them on the poor quality of the car they took no responsibility and said it was my fault the car was having so many problems. I now have a complaint against them the with the Better Business Bureau and hope to find some justice through them.

2000 Pontiac Grand Am SE 3.4 V6

Summary:

It's the worst car I've ever owned

Faults:

Intake gasket went just outside of the warranty (naturally).

Numerous brake jobs.

Various electrical gremlins.

Rattles and squeaks galore.

Two sets of wheel bearings replaced.

Heater blower motor speed 1 and 2 blew out.

Starter replaced at 55,000 miles.

Lots of front end work.

Wet carpet behind driver's seat.

Accelerates on its own.

Radio volume control doesn't function properly.

Locked out of car on many occasions. Can't open trunk with key.

Doors don't open with key at times. Door latches have been replaced.

General Comments:

I do like the overall design and look of the Grand Am. But that's as far as it goes.

To describe the car would be to say that the integrity and build quality is pathetic and to own one is embarrassing.

For some strange reason I do like the "idea" of the car.

It gets pretty good gas mileage and is fun to drive when it is working well, which isn't very often.

I'm afraid to take it anywhere because I can't trust it.

With all the money I've put into it ($2700 in the past six months), it's hard to say much good about it.

I also have a 2000 Grand Am SE. I am having the same problems. My front passenger side window won't go up or down. I went in to have my brakes replaced, because they squeak like crazy when putting on the brakes, and they didn't need replaced, neither did the rotars need to be turned or replaced. My volume control on my radio is broke, turn button came off, and you have to hold it out to turn the volume up or down. My air conditioner knob broke, so I can't change it from regular air to defrost. There is a noise in the dash (around the radio) that makes the noise that your blinker would make, even if the blinker is not turned on. There have also been poofs of smoke coming from the steering column.

Terrible car. I've had nothing but problems with it. Rack and pinion, fuel pump, electrical problems of all kind, blinkers did not work, doesn't always start and so on.

Right now I am looking to buy a new car, and cannot wait to get rid of the Grand Am.

And yeah, you guessed right, I am never buying a GM car again.
