1970 Pontiac LeMans 350

Summary:

Built like a tank.

Faults:

Had to replace starter motor every few years.

Replaced the timing gears and chain at 128,000 miles. Normally, these would fail at around 60,000 miles on these engines.

Park broke on the transmission at around 140,000 miles, but was still functional.

Valves burned at 171,000 miles.

General Comments:

This car was good looking, and performed well.

It was very good on gas, getting up to 21 miles per gallon.

It was a very sturdy car. It was hit on several occasions, and was still drivable. If anyone has seen the car chase scene in "THE FRENCH CONNECTION", you will know what I mean.

This car was very reliable until the engine's exhaust valves burned at 171,000.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
