1994 Toyota Celica GT 2.2 litre gasoline

Summary:

A quick beauty for pocket change

Faults:

The brakes seem to need constant attention to avoid squeaks.

The air conditioner makes a great deal of noise (and chops up the otherwise smooth idle) when it is turned on.

Tire noise is high.

Otherwise, it's perfect.

General Comments:

This car is relatively quick (pick-up is much better on the freeway than off the line), although the automatic transmission is partially at fault. As I mentioned, the car suffers from a horrible case of tire-induced humming at speed. It's very aerodynamic otherwise, no wind noise. The car handles very well, despite the sometimes disconnected-feeling steering. Aside from the 5s-fe powerplants notorious lack of muscle, it's an extremely reliable and gorgeous car. Excellent fit and finish, a very well laid out and comfortable interior, and dashing good looks. I'd recommend it to anyone.

1994 Toyota Celica ST 1.8 lt

Summary:

Style and performance for cheap

Faults:

First thing to go wrong with my car was the engine which broke a piston skirt and cost $1000 to have fixed (U.S. dollars).

Second was the clutch which I got replaced for $450.

Both of these problems happened back to back around 98,000 miles.

Another problem that happened which I am in the process of fixing is the motor mounts, but they are easy to replace.

General Comments:

Great car with very serious style.

Cabin and seats are comfortable and roomy, but snug and tight in turns.

Car is a real street car and parts are easy to find to upgrade, just takes some looking.

I am actually about to put a Erebuni body kit and 17in rims on mine within a couple of weeks.

This car accelerates faster than the eclipse and civic and some lancers that are just stock.

Great in turns as well, and even in rainy conditions its glued to the road.

1994 Toyota Celica GT-S 5SFE

Summary:

This car is a all around good bargain

Faults:

Emergency pads seem to wear down quick.

Battery performs badly in cold snaps.

General Comments:

This car has a lot of acceleration and handles the corners like its glued to the road.

Love the aggressive look of the front end.

The only bad comment I have is, it seems to be a lot of trouble to find any performance parts for this car.

The seats are great, I love the bucket seats, very comfortable.

1994 Toyota Celica GT 5sfe 2.2L

Summary:

Very addictive

Faults:

During winter, where I live, its quite cold (below -10 deg Celsius) and I hear a lot of noise from the struts (they have been changed recently) and from inside moldings. The tires are also making a lot of noise and the ride is very harsh on bumpy roads.

All of the exhaust need to be changed at 140 000 KM for me; even if it was still good looking (stainless steel) the flange (links between pipes) are very worn out.

The bottom inside of both front doors tend to rust after 5-6 years (i noticed it on other 94-96 celicas too), especially if your car has to deal with snow/salt.

At 120 000 KM, I had all the 4 rotors and pads changed and they are still doing noises and wear out quite fast, even if I go really easy on breaking.

General Comments:

Repair cost on this car is very expensive, especially collision parts because there is not much of them out here.

But in the end, I would say I like my car very much because of its special look and impressive handling. Its very pleasant to drive on nice roads in the summer. The performance on the GT aren't outstanding, but usually you get enough of power to enjoy tour ride.

1994 Toyota Celica GTS ST 1.8L

Summary:

I love this car so much!

Faults:

Nothing besides the fact that people like to back into it when I'm parked.

General Comments:

This is my first car. It is the best first car. It's a four banger and it runs like a V6. All my friends that ride or drive it think it's a V6.

I love this car so much, I never want to sell it. And one more thing I must add; it beats the crap out of all the little Honda Civics driving around. Every time I race a Civic, before we start they look at me like I'm crazy; racing a decked out Civic vs. a standard model Celica, nothing done to it. But afterwards all they see are my tail lights.

I totally agree about the 1994 Celica. I too own a `94 Celica and am extremely pleased with both it's reliability and it's incredible performance. Without any mods done, the Celica will outrun any manual Honda Civic and stun all other drivers watching. The Celica delivers performance where it's needed and definitely compliments each turn and curve of the road. A great car to own, a better car to drive, one of the best 4 cylinders to race. Amazing car.

( (Lughing) ) oh yeah this is sexy car ever.. I fell in love with that, oh I love it baby..

1994 Toyota Celica GT 2.2

Summary:

A well-built economical sports car that retains all the fun of driving

Faults:

Clutch was bad when I purchased it from a private owner. He may not have known how to drive a clutch very well.

It needed a tune-up.

Nothing major.

Left front high beam headlight has gathered some condensation that I cannot seem to extract, and the rubber surround around the low beam headlights is trying to press its way out a little.

I think the car will hold up very well for the abuse they have put it through.

General Comments:

Car seems to handle very well considering I was use to driving the 325i BMW with the sports package.

The engine is a bit noisier, but I like the sporty sound & tune of the Celica.

I wish to find out more about putting a turbo on the 5A-S 2.2 engine.

Hey, I'm back! I found a great site after I wrote my last comment! http://6gc.net - this site has everything for the 6th generation Celicas! Body kits, turbos, specs, pics and a really cool forum for members, free to join and well worth it! Check it out and see what other Celica owners have done with their cars. Welcome to "the Fast and the Furious" meets the Celica 6th generation! Oh, that is 1994 to 1999 if you didn't know! These guys really know their stuff and they are a nice group of people! I haven't seen as much love for a vehicle since I owned my VW Beetles years ago!
