2017 Peugeot 208 PureTech 82 1.2 petrol

Summary:

Nice car, but full of problems

Faults:

It gave me quite a few problems; here is a list of what broke since I bought it (with only 2 years and 5,000 km on the clock):

-From the start, the car kept stalling constantly; after calling for a tow truck several times, I got fed up and threatened them. They kept it in the shop for a month and finally returned it with the accelerator pedal replaced.

-Rear window regulator mechanism; the doors are flimsy, and leaning on them at all causes the mechanism to break.

-Rear wiper motor, and years later, the front one too.

-Front fan motor; when the mechanic took it apart, he told me it was a Chinese-made part—like all of them—but this specific one was among the worst quality.

-Various connectors melted, and you have to buy the entire wiring harness; we’ve had to resort to makeshift repairs.

-The interior display shuts off when it gets very hot; we never figured out exactly why—we just had to pull the fuse and put it back in to get it to turn on. By the way, the fuse box is so tight that only a child's hands can fit in there.

-The interior chrome trim peels off easily.

-Air conditioning compressor, something that’s never happened to me with any other car, and the air ducts also burst a year after the compressor was replaced.

-The particulate filter broke; the internal core literally came loose and crushed the attached sensors, requiring an 11,000 swedish kronor repair last summer. Thank goodness I got rid of the car; I don't think it would have lasted until this summer.

-A few months ago, the clutch pedal failed; a small plastic tab snapped (it should have been metal), and you have to buy the entire slave cylinder assembly just to replace that one tab.

-There have been several engine failures that left the car with no power.

General Comments:

The car looks good inside and out, featuring a modern interior design and material quality that is appropriate for its segment. It has direct steering and excellent maneuverability in city traffic.

Among other pluses, it is very fuel-efficient and handles beautifully, incredibly easy to maneuver and park.

I think that’s the best thing I can say about the car: it’s modern, safe, and fuel-efficient. As for the rest, there were many problems in just a few years, especially considering it was a new car. I would only recommend it if it didn't have all the issues I experienced.
