Summary:
Not bad, but I wasn't too excited about it
Faults:
Faults in the integrated ignition coil pack, causing power loss and misfiring in one or more cylinders.
The oxygen sensor causes jerking at constant speeds, as well as high fuel consumption and warning lights on the dashboard.
Oil leaks are common around the valve cover gasket and crankshaft seals.
Loose connections, phantom errors on the multifunction display, and malfunctions in the central locking or electric windows.
Power surges or voltage drops that disrupt electronic control units.
General Comments:
While the car is quite large, comfortable, and sumptuous, to me personally it seems less stately and graceful than the 605, its predecessor.
You could say it has a sporty driving feel. It’s a car that easily exceeds 200 km/h despite having only a 2.0-liter engine, and it accelerates quite quickly considering its weight. I have nothing bad to say about the engine; fuel consumption rises a bit if you push it hard, but overall it is moderate—though maintenance is expensive.
That covers the engine; the interior is unmistakably Peugeot. Among mass-market brands, it was one of the most elegant, at least during the late 90s and early 2000s. It features a beautiful interior with leather seats and all the amenities you would expect in a car of its class.
It handles very well; although the brakes weren't quite as precise as those on my previous Volvo S40, the car still stopped quite effectively. The steering is pleasant, it’s very easy to drive, and there are no annoying noises or anything like that.
Overall, the car is good and high-quality; personally, however, I wasn't particularly impressed by it. I’d rate it below the S40 (which was an older model). Beyond its easy handling and driving dynamics, it suffered from too many electrical issues—problems that really bothered me and were also expensive to fix. I wouldn't say I wouldn't recommend it, as it is a good car, superior to many on the market today, but it doesn't stand out to me as the best car I've ever owned.
