1982 Citroen CX 2000 GT 2.0 petrol
Certainly the most advanced car of its time
Alternator failed - now replaced.
This car is very pleasant to drive on long travels, except that it should always come with air condition - the windscreen is very large.
Its suspension and steering are beyond description - like driving on an air cushion and on rails simultaneously.
The interior is very spacious, but the boot is rather small and poorly accessible. Shame on Citroën for making it a hatchback!
If maintained properly, the car can actually be reliable - except the electrical system which is prone too bad surprises.
Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

The automatic transmissions on the CX are fine, you will be quite happy with it. Being a three speed the rpms at highway speeds are higher than I'd like, but that's the only complaint. Make sure it has been tended to with proper fluid changes and the like. Enjoy the car!

I had a CX Pallais 1982 model, semi automatic, metallic brown. It is the most fantastic car I have ever driven, the hydraulic self centering steering and suspension are magic, no other car is like this. If only you could buy a new one now? Only a handful of people are aware of how far ahead of time these cars were and still are. I owned mine for 10 years and it was most reliable, the engines and transmissions c/v etc are extremely well engineered and designed, built to last. Mine never had any problems and is still going strong.
