1999 Chrysler Neon GLX 2.0i petrol

Summary:

A bargain buy that looks more expensive

Faults:

So far, nothing has gone wrong with the car, although the automatic box does tend to be a bit 'clunky' when changing up.

Paint lacquer coating is bubbling in places. That's a bit of a worry!

General Comments:

As I have only had the car for a few days I can't comment too much on the reliability yet. So far it has started three out of three days. (100%)

The handling is firm and positive and feels like it would stick solidly to the road no matter how hard you pushed it round bends. (I don't aim to find out how far it will go before losing grip!)

I have the 2.0i auto petrol GLX model so the interior trim is superb. Leather wheel and upholstery, electric everything. (More to go wrong I guess, but I'm lazy)

Alloy wheels look good and the paint is a lovely metallic bottle green. Shame about the bubbles in the laquer in some spots around the windows. (That could be bad news later).

A rather noisy ride, but I have found a lot depends on the surface you are traveling on, so I think, as somebody else mentioned, getting the right tires is a must for a quieter, softer ride.

Interior trim is a bit noisy too. Squeaks and rattles all over. Annoying to say the least.

Overall this car is a very attractive and somewhat unusual around these parts. I haven't seen more than a few about, (is that a good thing or a bad thing??), so it tends to be a bit of a head turner. I like that!

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

To fix the tyre problems, get new tyres and put nitrogen in them. The only place I know is Kwik Fit. It will make the ride a lot smoother.

About the head turner thing, me and my dad get the same reaction; we also have a GLX Auto in Black. It's a really nice car to be in.
