2004 Fiat Scudo JTD 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Spacious, reliable, very strong engine

Faults:

Absolutely nothing has gone wrong with this van.

General Comments:

Excellent work horse with superb performance. I use it for my plastering business, and the back of it is always fully loaded, and the van will pull like it has nothing in it at all; it has a very strong engine.

It's a medium size van with lots of space. You get the 3 seats in the front with lots of room, and you will be surprised on how much stuff you can fit in the back.

The ride comfort is very good. The chassis is the same one that is on the Peugeot 806, so it has car like handling even when it's full. I actually prefer to drive my van than my car, cause it's so nice to drive and so smooth.

It isn't too bad on fuel either; my van is always full, so I always have a lot of weight onboard. And around town I average around 35mpg.

The reason I got a Scudo is because the bloke I use to work for had a Citroen Dispatch, which is exactly the same van but different badges. He had is for over 3 years, it had 259,000 miles on the clock when he got rid of it, and all he ever had to do was put 1 set of tyres on it. It was ultra reliable, and so far mine has as well.

2000 Fiat Scudo TDI 1.9 turbo diesel

Summary:

Crap

Faults:

My brakes are not working. The pedal travels to the floor when engine is running. The pedal is rock hard when the engine is off. Have changed pads, shoes and bled the system, but it's still the same.

General Comments:

This car is a nightmare.

The fact that this car has traveled a quarter of a million miles indicates to me that it cannot be as bad as you suggest.

Change the master brake cylinder, and it will work.

2006 Fiat Scudo JTD 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Generally good work vehicle

Faults:

Generally been reliable until we lost all brake effort (Pedal went to the floor) and subsequently brakes stuck on and burnt out the front caliper and damaged the pads.

Brake pads wore out on front at only 13000 miles of fairly light duty work.

Problem with the master cylinder or servo since other owners also have a similar problem with identical symptoms.

Drive belt on alternator and A/C also has short life.

Seats gather dirt like a magnet!

General Comments:

It's a good van to drive, very good control layout and easy gears.

No problems with the chassis or the engine.

Looks very good in styling.

Engine is a lot quieter than the Peugeot model of same van.

I bought my Scudo 2.00ltr JTD from new in 2006. I retired from work as a plumber and sold it 6 years later; in that time it had done 68000 miles without a single problem. I replaced tyres and wiper blades as well as regular servicing. It was faultless.

Highly recommended, John O'Connor

My father had one of these vans 20 years ago, put 200,000 miles on it, very tough vans.

2007 Fiat Scudo 120 Multijet 2.0 turbo diesel

Faults:

I have a new 57reg Fiat Scudo Combi with seven passenger seats. My problem is that the rear seat you fold down to allow the rear passengers out is on the off side.

This means those passengers are getting in and out on to the main road. I have raised this problem with Fiat, and they have said there is nothing that can be done; this is an accident waiting to happen.

Does anyone have any comments on this issue?

General Comments:

Apart from the seating problem, I am very happy with the motor so far!

If you look where the single seat on the off side locks in on the floor, there is a small locking pin. If you cover this with something (I used a small bit of rubber hose) the seat will not lock down, however it still is held by the other seats.

This will allow you to lift all three seats from the n/s, or just the single from the o/s.
