2013 Ford Galaxy Titanium 2.0 TDCi
Summary:
Spacious family MPV
Faults:
Mostly wear and tear for the usual mechanicals (brakes, suspension), there were never any major problems. A/C was very weak but probably needed re-gassed. Clutch juddered in my last year of ownership but never failed completely. Water pump leaked but changed when the cam-belt was changed.
Cosmetically the car was very rough when I got rid of it, paint work was of low quality, rust and peeling and fade just about everywhere.
Interior quality also suspect, low quality plastics broke here and there. Very rough looking. But it did get regular family use.
General Comments:
Very large and spacious family MPV, the Galaxy is ideal for family or taxi use. Great looking in black with windows tints and alloy wheels.
Titanium model had the lot - super comfy leather seats and all electrics. The interior space and features are the reasons you buy cars like this. A joy to be in and drive.
2.0 diesel had great power for its size and did 44 - 50 mpg. Reliable if serviced on time, and paired with a manual gearbox, one of Ford's most reliable units. Avoid eco-boost petrol engines or powershift automatics of this time period.
Kids loved the panoramic sunroof!
Ideal family vehicle if you pick the right version for your needs.

Yes, you should rwally avoid the Powershift transmission. Besides that, everything is pretty robust and straight forward. The Powershift is a real mystery to me. Ford never really improved this unit, until the latest generation that is good it seems. VW had similar problems with its early DSG transmissions, but they were quick to improve their construction. Ford took more than 10 years to fix matters. So two whole generations of Powershift transmissions are pretty bad and give a lot of reliability problems.

As you rightly said in the last sentence, if you pick the right model, it can be the best vehicle.
In the case of the Galaxy, if it has a manual transmission, it will prove very reliable. You should steer clear of the Powershift automatic transmission from those years; that was the most problematic aspect of the vehicle.
I also agree that it handles very well; personally, rather than seeing the Galaxy as a larger S-Max, I’d say it’s essentially a larger Mondeo. In fact, the interior is identical.
