2007 Ford Ranger Thunder Double Cab 2.5 TDCi

Summary:

Not fit for the job, poor engineering

Faults:

Car was pre registered by Ford dealer in 2007.

Car never sold.

I bought it in May this year.

Clutch packed in 3 weeks after buying it.

At under a 1000 miles, Ford are trying to say it's wear and tear, yes, wear & tear @ under 1000 miles and no towing.

And they say they are not covering it under warranty either.

Further enquiries reveals I'm not alone with this problem, Oh NO! It would seem from reading other owners complaints, the clutch just isn't up to the job, and of course Ford don't want to know, even though they know there is a problem and have since had to modify the clutch in the current model.

So Ford's 3 year warranty isn't 3 years because I've been told the 2nd. & 3rd. years are very limited in what Ford in fact do cover.

General Comments:

Disgusted with my treatment, and don't buy a FORD.

A Canadian once told me FORD stands for FIX OR REPAIR DAILY. I know now unfortunately what he was getting at.

2007 Ford Ranger XLT 2.5 tdi

Summary:

Not fit for purpose

Faults:

I was reversing up my driveway, which is on a incline, and was slippery at the time, when the clutch pedal dropped to the floor and there was a burning smell.

On investigation the clutch was burnt out and the fly wheel was damaged. All of this was not covered on the warranty, and I was told by Ford that it was my fault for being a bad driver.

The garage bill came to £2000 and I had absolutely no help from Ford whatsoever, indeed it took a month to fix the vehicle (awaiting parts) and had no courtesy vehicle.

It is only when something goes wrong and you need help you realise how truly bad that Ford customer service is. I would never ever buy a Ford vehicle again after my experience with them, and am in the process of changing my vehicle with another manufacturer.

Good for you. If you don't get good service, go elsewhere.

You burned out your clutch. Maybe you should try an automatic.

I agree with ford learn how to drive stick.

It must be noted that the original poster was from the UK. Over in the UK, MOST cars are manual (we learned to drive manual well before the Americans). I have never seen an automatic Ranger over here. Probably was a fault with the car.

2006 Ford Ranger Wiildtrak 2.5 turbo diesel

Summary:

Like it or loath it, no one ignores it

Faults:

None.

General Comments:

Very happy with this truck. One of the last mark 2

Rangers. It's the Ford Ranger Wildtrak; leather seats, climate control, roller shutter on the back,

all the chrome bull bars, side steps.

Tows very well too.

2002 Ford Ranger XLT 2.5TD

Summary:

Looks good, but is nothing but a problem

Faults:

Strange whistling noise from under the bonnet at 2300RPM upward. The dealer has fitted 2 replacement turbo's, reconditioned fuel injection pump, new viscous fan coupling, and lots of other parts fitted to try to fix the problem. The dealer has admitted that there is a loud noise from the engine, but cannot find out what it is. Ford have now told me that they will not be allowing the dealer to do anymore work on the vehicle under warranty, and that the noise happens in all Rangers.

Rear diff has clonked from new, and have been told by the dealer that they will not fix it until it actually breaks.

General Comments:

The dealer has had the vehicle for a total of over 5 weeks, and I have driven other Rangers and none of them make this noise.

I am totally disgusted with the way this has been dealt with by Ford Motor Co.

I will not buy another Ford in the future.
