2000 Hyundai Accent Si 1.3

Summary:

Good value, easy to live with

Faults:

Starting problem which cured its self.

Otherwise no problems at all in 7000 miles.

General Comments:

I think the accent is a good sized sturdy smart car, the styling is still up there with the latest cars available.

Accent 2000 onwards is a practical comfortable affordable escort sized car, but leaves the escort standing for sheer value for money.

Hyundai are known to build reliable cars and there warranties are legendary.

I have found in the past that only nissan and toyota's are better for a no hassle working class car.

2000 Hyundai Accent MVI 1.5

Summary:

Decent looking and cheap to run. Horrible to drive

Faults:

Nothing went wrong with the car in the 18 months I had it. Very reliable.

General Comments:

The MVI model looks quiet good.

The 1.5 engine is weedy and over revs. Sounds good, but it isn't.

Interior is plasticy and dull.

Handling is terrible, almost dangerous in icy conditions.

Seats are uncomfotable and headroom at a premium.

I owned a 1997 MVi which was an excellent car. Sadly the same could not be said of the 2000 onwards MVi that I owned from new until January 2004 covering 44,000 miles.

Probably the worst car that I have ever owned (and I am now on my 29th car). Performance not very good for a 100bhp engine - the gearing not sporty, the older model had a close ratio gearbox. Air conditioning was not very good and eventually stopped working. MPG - 5mpg less than the old model. Not very comfortable and the interior cheap.

But the worst aspect was depreciation - the value reduced by nearly 75% in less than 4 years.

2000 Hyundai Accent CDX 1.5

Summary:

A good performer and a bargain

Faults:

Nothing at all, a brilliant car.

General Comments:

The car is better than a Focus at Fiesta prices.

The car is fast as it is light.

105 mph top speed is very wrong, it could do 120 easy.

Very high spec and quality for the price.

2000 Hyundai Accent 1.3i

Faults:

The Accent was a bit of a surprise, the pace of the car has improved dramatically with some mileage, but the fuel economy has also increased.

It's not the biggest small hatch inside, but the boot is massive.

It's a bit of a hoot on twisty country roads, a bit of tail happy fun.

I am a 17 year old with a new license and drive my parents' Accent enthusiastically! Kickdown performance on the 1.3 auto is surprising, and I agree that it has an element of 'tail happy' fun to it! FUEL ECONOMY FOR A 1.3 IS HOPELESS! 30 mpg at best, 20 if driven hard!

2000 Hyundai Accent MVI 1.5

Summary:

Fun, fun, fun for your money

Faults:

Nothing wrong so far.

General Comments:

Handling much better than expected, not only solid but also comfy.

It's a quick car that has a lot more power than the rest of the Accent range.

Insurance is good as is fuel economy.

Comes with a 3 year RAC and comprehensive warranty cover (4 years £200 extra), alloys, CD, ABS, rear spoiler and so on.

I just can't stop driving the beast. Sky blue looks the biz.
