2003 Jaguar XJR 4.2 supercharged

Summary:

Looks can be deceiving. More of a projectile than a luxury saloon

Faults:

Slight scabbing on front screen passenger side pillar. Taken to a Jaguar dealer, and repaired with absolutely no quibbles, which was refreshing from a main dealer, and taking into account the car was 6 years old!!

Engine management light comes on periodically. Jaguar assessed the fault and told me it was the airflow sensor. They didn't charge for the diagnostic check. The mechanic boffin told me that the sensor is integral with the throttle body, and this would cost £400 plus to replace. He said that as it had no effect on the smooth running of the car, that it would be uneconomical to repair with my budget limits. Very honest and helpful.

Apart from this minor fault, everything operates as well as the day the car rolled off the line at Castle Bromwich! Magnificent.

General Comments:

This car is a real testament to Jaguar for their build quality, and I cannot speak more highly of the reliability and excellence of this model. There isn't a knock, squeak or rattle on the suspension or any of the interior fittings.

Everything works as perfectly and quietly as when the car was new. The ride quality, road manners and performance are absolutely A1.

I'll finish with the performance, the car is VERY quick and accelerates with breathtaking swiftness from standing. The youngsters in their hot hatches look on in astonishment when I "take the bait" and they find themselves 100 yards behind at the next set of lights!!

2003 Jaguar XJR 4.2 supercharged V8

Summary:

Probably the best car in the world

Faults:

Electrical fault - giving air suspension fault warning - easily sorted under warranty.

General Comments:

Simply the best car I have ever owned. The ride is excellent - and the performance earth shattering. Seats extremely comfortable. Cabin superb and a lovely place to spend time. Excellent audio system and sat nav.

Brilliant lights and in Jaguar Racing Green wonderfully attractive.

A car that wants to be driven for hundreds of miles at a time. At legal limits it can even get 30 mpg!

I know of no better at any price or marque.

So you like it then?

I currently own and X308 version, and love that, but may be upgrading to the new model soon, seems a fantastic car, however I am not too sold on the new styling (had to be done due to aluminium construction, height issues and legroom I know). After reading your comments, I think I will nip out for a test drive.

Thanks.
