2004 Mazda RX8 192ps 1.3L Rotary

Summary:

It is an absolute pleasure to drive

Faults:

Nothing so far.

General Comments:

I bought the car in March and have not stopped smiling ever since!

The car looks fantastic from every angle and attracts a lot of attention from strangers and work colleagues.

All UK owners get the chance to visit Prodrive near Birmingham to learn about the car and push it to the limit on their private circuit. That was an eye-opening experience!

I test drove the 231ps version, but the 192ps is still very fast and can stop from 90mph in just a few seconds. Learned that at Prodrive, not the M5.

Only downside is the fuel consumption, but most sports cars are thirsty. You get less than 20mpg for urban driving, but the oil consumption is only bad if you race the engine for long periods.

My dad has owned Mazdas for over 10 years and the reliability has been very good, long may it continue!

Summary:

The car does exactly what it says on the tin

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong with the car yet.

General Comments:

The car does exactly what it says on the tin.

To start off with, it is a sports car. The handling is superb, the car feels so well balanced and responsive. It is also very predictable and the D S C intervenes only when absolutely needed.

The interior trim is f high standards. The rear seats are of the "bucket" type, just like the front ones. The ride is firm, but comfortable: the suspensions are compliant and round off road imperfections very nicely, although it is still a firm and sporty ride.

The straight line performance is in line with its class rivals, but the handling on the twisty bits is sensational. This car makes the driver feel very confident.

It is quite practical too, but do not expect saloon level practicality, more like a small hatchback.
