1998 Mazda Xedos 6 SE 2.0 V6

Summary:

Motorings best kept secret

Faults:

Seized rear brake caliper (common problem on Mazda 626 and Xedos), Apart from that the usual Mazda bombproof engineering.

General Comments:

I saw this Xedos 6 for sale two years ago and swapped my Saab 900 turbo for it.

I was looking for a Alfa 156 at the time, but was being put off by all the reliability issues with owning Alfas, so when I clapped eyes on the very rare Xedos 6 I bought it.

The V6 24 valve engine is the jewel in the crown of this car, Smooth effort free driving with a real mid range punch for overtaking safely at speed, Make sure you get the SE version with the luxury leather, cruise control and all the electric gadgets.

Although not as brutal as my last Saab Turbo its still got what it takes if you can't stand the thought of owning a BMW,

Overall this rare stylish cruiser has the looks of Alfa the refinement of a Jaguar the reliability of Mazda for the price of a Ford.

1998 Mazda Xedos 6 SE V6 2.0

Summary:

The best car I have ever owned

Faults:

So far I have had no problems with this car to date.

General Comments:

Since getting this car I have had trouble free motoring. It starts first time every time, and runs so smooth that I can't hear the engine from the inside.

I was very impressed by the acceleration of this car, and OK it's not quite as cheap to run as my old peugeot 306, but for a V6 I personally don't find it expensive to run.

I love all the luxuries in this car as well, for a long time I kept finding new features and buttons on the dashboard and it's great fun to drive. If I ever had to get another car, it would surely be another one of these.

Yes I bought a V6 Xedos two years ago and still can't believe what a stunning rare high spec car I bought for peanuts,

Not as quirky as my last Saab 900 turbo, But a lot more refined and reliable.

Avoid Mazda main dealers for parts and servicing and they can be just as cheap as a Ford Mondeo to run.
