1994 Porsche 968 Sport 3.0 petrol (Flat 4)

Summary:

The everyday super--car

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

The Porsche 968 Sport is a fantastic car. Bigger, better, faster and more rare then a Boxster.

With a large boot (Big enough to fit two racing bicycle's) and two rear seats for two small cats it's an ideal coupe for a couple, who have no need to cart people around...

The handling and performance is superb, but the running costs a little high.

Pop your bonnet and check your engine. if your cylinders go side to side then your engines broke. 944/968's cylinders go up and down ;)

One of Porsche's best!

1994 Porsche 968 Sport 3.0

Summary:

Excellent car that is not too costly to run - great performance and handling

Faults:

Water pump broke at 63,000 miles. Replaced by an independent specialist, not a main dealer.

General Comments:

This car drives superbly, the 968 Sport is a great combination of practicality and performance. It has a reasonable sized boot for the type of car, my daughter can sit in the car seat in the rear whilst the handling is excellent. It has great torque and just keeps on accelerating.

On rough roads you really feel the bumps, but this is worth putting up with for the handling.

Surprisingly economical - I have never had less than 20 mile per gallon and approach 30 on long journeys!

1993 Porsche 968 Club Sport 3.0 petrol

Faults:

New rear/mid silencer @ 40,000 miles.

New clutch @ 32,000 miles.

Headlamp mechanism failed.

Rear discs cracked.

Front calipers required rebuild @ 35,000 miles.

General Comments:

Dealers are terrible and you get the feeling they just replace parts rather than find and repair small faults.

The 968 CS is, however, the best car I've ever driven. My car has the LSD and sports suspension which makes it even better than standard.

1993 Porsche 968 Sport 3.0 petrol

Faults:

Balance belt snapped, thermostat seized, sunroof drive-wheel broke.

General Comments:

Superb performance, especially above 3K revs, hard ride, brilliant handling, main dealers inefficient and expensive - use specialists instead.
