General Comments:

Modern VW Crafter is a fantastic van for business or personal use.

I have found it economical and spacious. Also surprisingly nice to drive for a van.

The 2.0 TDi is a good all round engine that has been about forever, super reliable if serviced on time. Even fully loaded, you can still get between 30 - 40 mpg on diesel, and the performance is good for the size and weight of the van. Manual box is best - I have read even the more modern Crafters still have issues with the automatic transmissions. They were particularly troublesome on early models.

Very high quality materials that should stand the test of time. Modern interior with touch-screen, and plenty of storage areas.

A much better van than our old Vauxhall Vivaro. It was a decent van but had some issues.

The Crafter is a bit pricey, but worth it long term. Easily the best value for money over rivals such as the Ford Transit and so on. Best bought used - there are good deals on vans with low mileage at only a couple of years old.

Faults:

Driveshafts, exhaust, suspension, seat and trim wear and tear, etc. Gearbox issues. Engine oil leaks.

General Comments:

Middle of the road van from VW.

Not very fast or economical. Struggles for 28 mpg, this is poor for diesel.

OK to drive and comfortable enough.

Does the job, but not been that reliable, lots of wear and tear plus a few issues.

Not sure if I'd buy again.

Faults:

Beyond wear and tear, nothing much. Some interior plastics a bit flimsy and easy to break, but the van does get heavy use.

Rear was wood lined when new, but still has massive damage from materials. Not the van's fault, just careless use from the previous owner.

General Comments:

The VW Crafter is spacious, comfortable, economical and gets the job done. As a typical white works van, there isn't much more to say about it.

I suppose it's probably the best or near the best in class. It's better to drive and quieter on the road than our previous old 2011 Ford Transit, which was an OK van, but this VW Crafter offers more for the money.

Even fully loaded the 2.0 TDi never struggles and maintains a decent mile per gallon. I reckon is does around 30 mpg + even heavy loaded. For a big heavy van, that is OK.

Ideal for shifting heavy loads in comfort and reliability. Worth the extra purchase price over rival vans.

Faults:

The usual wear and tear, but the biggest problem was constant transmission problems - the auto boxes on these vans are terrible. Shifting issues, visited transmission specialist three times and still not resolved.

General Comments:

The Crafter was OK to drive, spacious and did the job (when working correctly).

The van was bought used, but had full dealer verified history, and appeared to be in good order.

However we bought this van on the basis of a friends advice "it's just the same as a Mercedes Sprinter only cheaper" as we found out however, our previous Mercedes van was much more reliable, this van has been a nightmare.

Maybe a manual transmission one would have been OK, but avoid a Crafter with an auto box!

At around 10 years old and approaching the infamous 100K mark, we decided to cut our losses and sell this van. Never buying VW business vans again.

Faults:

Quite a lot, but mostly just wear and tear over the years. Lately there is a loss of power and an engine management light came on. Unless it can be fixed for cheap, the van will be scrapped.

General Comments:

Big, spacious, powerful, does the job. The VW Crafter is basically a re-badged Mercedes Sprinter van.

Not great on fuel (30 mpg on average at best) but it is a large van with a 2.5 engine, albeit diesel.

OK to drive. Short Wheel Base but still a big van.

It has done our business well over the years, performing faultless until now. But trying to get these vans fixed on a budget is difficult these days.
