2016 Volkswagen Golf Match DSG 1.4 Bluemotion TSi

Summary:

Does everything very well

Faults:

Nothing.

General Comments:

My black 2016 Golf is like the perfect car for all scenarios. I love this car, it is nothing special, but for a practical car that is solid and reliable, the Golf has always been a winner.

DSG auto box does not seem to blunt performance. I test drove a manual version of the same car and actually preferred this automatic. Admittedly, it takes miles per gallon down a slight notch, but nothing noticeable. Drive very carefully and you should still see over 45 mpg, which for a petrol automatic is really good. The 1.4 TSi engine is a good one.

Match spec is OK if a bit basic. The car has comfortable seats and plenty of features.

Difficult to say much more, I have little if anything negative to say about this car. Hard to believe it is ten years old, feels super modern. Buy a low mileage Golf that has been looked after well, and you have bought reliability.

2016 Volkswagen Golf Match 2.0 TDi BlueMotion Tech

Summary:

If you just need a good car, the Golf is perfect

Faults:

Battery needing changed, not the car's fault.

Had it one year, just a service and new brakes as they were an MOT advisory from the last owner.

General Comments:

Modern, reliable, classy, cheap to run... Golf does all you need.

The car is 9 years old but feels like a 3 year old car. Pleasant to drive and look at.

2.0 diesel "BlueMotion Tech" is the one to go for, fast enough and economical. I've never had less than 50 mpg and I drive fast.

All models are well equipped, but the Match spec is a nice one. Quality interior materials and design. Enough space for me at average height and weight.

Perfect for those who want a no nonsense car. Can be expensive to repair when it does go wrong, as any car can these days. But find a nice low mileage car that's been looked after and you have pretty much perfect transport.
