2004 Volkswagen Sharan 1.9 tdi

Summary:

Usual Volkswagen reliability, but a few niggly little problems

Faults:

Electric window on driver side opened 4 inches then would not go up or down. Now when I press the switch, the 4 way flashers go. If I try to adjust the mirrors with the electric adjusting switch the 4 way flashers go, but the mirrors don't move.

I know there is a relay somewhere, but my local vw cannot / will not inform me of where. And if as it would appear it is the relay I would be able to purchase and refit myself... If I knew where and what one it is... Please assist if you can. Thank you.

General Comments:

What can I say about the Sharan that I assume all owners would say, a very good vehicle indeed.

It will suffer more breakdowns, don't worry, VWs are terrible!

2004 Volkswagen Sharan SE 1.9 TDI 130

Summary:

A well built, smart and quick MPV

Faults:

Only one thing, the dashboard light that comes on to say another of the bulbs has blown illuminates every time I start the car, but all the bulbs are fine.

It has done this since day one.

General Comments:

I find the car is well put together.

The seats are firm, but comfortable on long journeys.

There are no squeaks or rattles which I consider very good considering an independent coachbuilder did some major engineering to it from new to make it wheelchair accessible.

The engine is superb, 130bhp and all that torque makes it indecently quick.

The economy is also very good, on long runs (150 miles+) at motorway speeds I get 50mpg!!

The kids love the special rear seats with built in boosters, excellent for families.

I really cannot say enough good things about this car.

I wholeheartedly agree with this review. In Cardiff (home) 60 per cent of taxis are Sharan TDI. What better recommendation? One bad point is the wiper assembly, very expensive. But have found a 10p remedy.

The dashboard light that comes on to say another of the bulbs has blown, is just a check, press the brake pedal...

A long time ago for a reply but just in case someone else sees this question: what's the 10p fix to an expensive wiper assembly fault?
