2008 Volkswagen Tiguan Sport TDI 2.0 turbo diesel

Summary:

Overall, a very nice, comfortable, reliable car

Faults:

Small water loss at continued very high speed. Traced to fault in EGR, which was replaced.

No other faults.

General Comments:

Fit and finish of the car is to a high standard.

The sports seats are very comfortable, although the cornsilk beige leather is difficult to keep clean.

The radio is excellent with full SDHC support, even though this is not specified in brochure.

The ride on the Sports suspension is quite firm for UK roads.

Driving position is very good.

Handling for a tall vehicle is very good, and it can be hustled through corners very well.

The 4 wheel drive has been very useful in the snow, and provides excellent traction, although the brakes can be a little sharp.

The engine noise at low speed is poor, although once speed has built up, the car is very quiet.

Wind noise is very low.

Main gripes are ventilation. I would have like to have cool air to my face and warm air to my feet, as I had in the Volvo.

The parking sensors are very useful, and the auto parking works well, if a little scary letting the car do the parking.

Passenger space is very good with a sliding rear seat. Boot space is poor, but overall the car is not very long, so it is not a surprise.

Fuel consumption is OK at 38 overall, and over 40 on a run. No oil has been used.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
