1997 Chrysler LHS 3.5 from North America

Summary:

So comfortable, safe and dependable, I doubt I'll love another car more

Faults:

Radio gave me some problems, but it was an easy fix. ABS light came on, but the brakes still worked fine.

General Comments:

What can I say about this car, besides for "I love it". It's big, it's stylish (it's easy to forget just how classy these cars were when they were new... just because most have been neglected), it's sooo comfortable, and it's very safe. Far safer than a lot of the new cars today.

From the excellent Infinity stereo, which still pounds and sounds great over 10 years later, to the softest leather seats you'll sit in (think "lazyboy comfortable"), to a V6 with a good mix of power and fuel economy, this car still holds well with many of today's cars.

I get in newer Toyotas and Hondas, what with their tin-thin doors and all, and they still don't have the attention to detail the LHS has. Jeremy Clarkson had good things to say about them back when they first came out, and I know why. I'll never love another like my LHS.

1997 Chrysler LHS 3.5L from North America

Summary:

The ultimate sleeper!

Faults:

I had no performance issues with the car.

2 lug nuts broke off driver side spindle.

Needed to replace inner tie rod and sub-frame bushing on driver side.

General Comments:

This car is surprisingly fast (214hp, 24v engine!).

Has been a very reliable car for the money!

Would recommend to anyone looking for a comfortable quality vehicle.

1997 Chrysler LHS 3.5L from North America

Summary:

Semi-luxury and powerful.

Faults:

Axles were shot after about 3,000 miles of my driving (mostly due to me playing with the substantial engine).

Sun/moon roof does not seat correctly.

Often get code number 21 for no reason. O2 sensor has been replaced several times in order to remedy this problem. Does not seem to be a problem with the O2 sensors or car, just seems like a bug.

Clear coat has worn off at places including trunk, hood and some places on the sides.

General Comments:

Nice acceleration, especially for a heavy car.

Good stock sound system. (Infinity)

Runs well in general.

Headlight covers become "frosted" seemingly like every other Chrysler vehicle on the market.

I have very few complaints, this car has been good to me since I bought it from my parents.

Nice stock rims.

1997 Chrysler LHS 3.2 from North America

Summary:

Too much trouble for a new car

Faults:

Let's see:

Power steering pump, air control panel, fuel rails, steering rack, condenser for A/C (twice).

4 right side axles, automatic transmission stuck in 1st gear, water pump.

All before 100,000 miles.

General Comments:

I liked the looks of the car.

1997 Chrysler LHS 3.5 from North America

Summary:

Good handling, comfortable, and "easy" on the wallet operating

Faults:

Transmission rebuilt at 97000 miles.

Paint started peeling off roof at approx. 110000 miles.

Moon roof quit at 150000. Did not repair.

A/C evaporator started leaking at 155000. No repair.

Right tie rod needed replaced at 160000.

Tape player quit at 170000.

Had to replace spark plug wires at 185000.

General Comments:

Vehicle handled like a dream. Went where you pointed it and acceleration was there for whenever the pedal was pushed. Still there after 197000 miles.

Other than reg. maintenance, the use of synthetic oil has kept the engine in excellent running order and very CHEAP to operate.

Interior of the vehicle is in excellent condition for the age and miles, with only a hole in the carpet where my wife's heels set while driving.

Mileage was always in the low 20mpg and would get as much as 30mpg on the highway.

Only complaint is the typical paint peel.

1997 Chrysler LHS 3.5L from North America

Summary:

Garbage

Faults:

Power steering went loose twice, brake rotors, engine mounts, transmission mounts, transmission leaks, water pump, some unknown vibrations and shakes. A bad experience overall.

General Comments:

Too many things happened to this car in 1 year I owned it. I would not buy another one or recommend it to anybody. I ended up tossing this car for metal scrape after it quit working on me in the middle of a road, and got $160 for it.. woo-hoo!!!
