2014 Chrysler Town and Country Touring 3.6L V6 from North America

Summary:

Very economical, practical and family friendly minivan

Faults:

- Plug for accessory adapter (replaced under warranty).

- Battery.

- 3rd row seat headrest clip (will not stay fixed position).

General Comments:

This vehicle is a minivan, and has very practical features for a family hauler. I don't tow anything, nor do I go off-roading. So far, only minimal maintenance has been required, such as tires, batteries, oil changes.

The vehicle itself fits 7 people comfortably, and I have used the Stow and go feature multiple times to fold the seats flat and carry large items (Costco groceries, and a large media/entertainment chest which just barely fit).

I myself did not initially intend on buying this particular vehicle, but after shopping in 2014 and finding several overpriced minivans (ex: Odyssey, Sienna), I checked out the Dodge Grand Caravans, and Chrysler Town and Country minivans and found myself buying it. No, they are not very cheap, but I can say that the base model Chrysler minivan has more standard options than a base model Odyssey or Sienna. Make no mistake, this is a very capable vehicle. Why the general public doesn't buy more of these minivans, I don't understand. Every other truck or SUV on the road is boxy and has unusual shapes, and those vehicles get horrible gas mileage. The Chrysler T&C does everything practical for a family. Easy sliding doors, seats and carpets that are easy to clean. Huge trunk space to carry just about everything. It even carries large sheets of plywood with the back seats folded. The only feature that I have not yet used are the roof racks on top of the vehicle.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes

Original poster here - currently at 104,100 miles. For the Chrysler T&C, all I changed was an alternator which basically failed after 7 years. I figured the stock one wouldn't last as long, so I had a local mechanic replace it with a brand new alternator; hopefully a bit more long lasting than the other one.

Other faults - suspension, all 4 shocks and struts had to be replaced as tires started to get balding, and needed replacement. Also got credit from Firestone for replacement tires since the old ones (almost 4 years) started getting worn down due to the weight of the vehicle. Not bad in my opinion, considering this thing weighs almost 2 tons (no, it's no Chevy Suburban LOL).

Lastly, for all the others that scorned me saying it is a "mommy van", or "old pope mobile", it truly is neither. It does its job perfectly, and I am happy I purchased this vehicle for my personal use. Will continue using this till it hits 300K plus in miles.
