1977 Ford Capri II 2.3 from North America

Summary:

Great looking car I would like to have again, and build a suitable powertrain from the ground up

Faults:

Catalytic converter died at about 80K.

Timing Belt died at about 90K.

Lost several transmissions (4) due to aggressive driving style of teenager.

Drivers seatback bolts bent/broke twice (faulty design).

Floor pan seams rusted / wore through at about 110K - welded back in place.

General Comments:

Fun, fabulous, good-looking car that has lots of potential.

As equipped by Ford, it's performance is lackluster.

Balance / feel of handling great, slight amount of under-steer at the limit.

Great visibility and easy to work on.

Parts tremendously expensive, due to German manufacturing.

Would you buy another car from this manufacturer? Yes
