2008 Holden Colorado 3.0L diesel from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Would not buy another

Faults:

Drivers window mechanism keeps breaking.

All suspension had to be replaced after at only 18 months old.

Brakes are hopeless, all replaced numerous times.

Fuel pump runs off engine oil - hopeless if the oil is not entirely the right consistency.

Wheel nuts have tendency to undo, resulting in wrecked rims.

Parts are ridiculously expensive and inferior compared to other brands.

Servicing by dealers hopeless unless booked in 6 months in advance!!

General Comments:

The ute is nice to drive and comfortable, engine and transmission are OK, pity about the rest of it.

2008 Holden Colorado LT-R 3.0 TDi turbo diesel from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

An extremely capable 4wd and economical car to run

Faults:

Service costs on the car are unusually high, probably due to replacing of all oils in car (diff, gearbox and labour). No problems as of yet. Rumour is the clutch on these vehicles is fairly cheap and will fail in the near future. Tires that come on the car are of poor quality, and got only 35,000kms. Cheap plastics and fake leather for interior.

The suspension in this car isn't fantastic, and will require upgrades for serious 4wders.

General Comments:

The car is a joy to run and drive.

The diesel engine is rugged and powerful. With 360nm of torque, you're able to pull away from the lights without much work from the engine. Average about 8.0L/100km on the highway, and 9.2L/100km in city driving.

Lots of fun to drive on the beach and on 4wd tracks.
