1997 Hyundai Coupe SE 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Cheap car, expensive looks

Faults:

Only needed a light bulb apart from the regular service it requires every 10,000 miles.

General Comments:

A very good car. Great looks, a real head turner, could be quicker and maybe smoother but overall I'm very pleased with the car and would buy another when the time comes. Very good value for money.

1997 Hyundai Coupe SE 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Great looking car, people still turn their heads. But it squeaks and rattles most of the time now (after 35,000 miles). Interior light bulbs keep overheating and burning out, mirror defrost doesn't work, headlight bulbs (I'm on my third set and I don't drive that much at night).

General Comments:

Overall, great car, great looks, very poor build quality. Shame, but I won't get another one.

I bought one last November, the steering tugs the car into the hedgerows on country lanes... but is smooth as silk on flat motorways. It tramlines lorry tyre grooves.

Headlamp bulbs keep blowing, clock flashes on and off at will.

Factory CD backlight has a mind of it's own. Even so, it's a great car for long drives.

Hi, I normally post on the 98 model, regarding headlight bulbs, Hyundai did a replacement on headlights not a re-call, on request. Issue was that the earthing of the Factory fit lights was wrong hence bulbs kept blowing.

1997 Hyundai Coupe SE 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Absolutely nothing in 7,000 miles from new so far!

General Comments:

Excellent MPV. Cabin is very versatile, comfortable, light and airy. Performance for the size of the vehicle is excellent. However, it took a few thousand before the running process allowed it to rev freely. On the German Autobahn I have had it up to an indicated 118 easily. Faster than the road tests indicate. Fuel consumption is moderate. An excellent, good value buy. Don't buy a Ford, these hold their value much better!!!!

1997 Hyundai Coupe SE 2.0 petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing bar a theft of the CD Player.

General Comments:

I love the looks of the Car. It definitely is a great looking car, one of the best I've seen and the standard specification is excellent. Build quality is a great improvement over previous Hyundai cars but is still not perfect. Having said that I rate it far higher than a lot of other coupes in terms of looks and value. Could do with a bit more power though to match the appearance.

That's what aftermarket parts are for...

1997 Hyundai Coupe 1.8 MPFI petrol from UK and Ireland

Faults:

Nothing, but then again it's only 3 months old.

General Comments:

I love it!! People get their necks out of joint trying to look at it. The attention it gets is amazing, you might think that you were driving a Ferrari.

Great handling (suspension tuned by Porsche), I just wish I would have gotten the 2 liter engine. I am now a loyal Hyundai fan. This car is nothing like the old Hyundai's, and review in mags is great.

Ferrari? Get a life. This beast is all pose and no performance. 165Bhp off a 3 litre V6? Rubbish!

And as for calling it 'Tiburon' shark.!!! Dogfish more likely.

Its saving graces are excellent build quality and equipment levels. A sports car it certainly ain't!

Strictly for the girls and the under 25's for posing in. Don't try any 'sporty manouvers' ie quick off the lights against anything more potent than Grandfathers Yaris. Bog standard Polo's have better acceleration than this lump of oriental parts bin engineering.

Its 75% Hyundai Accent under its plastic panels.
