2000 Kia Carens 1.8 from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Very happy with my Kia

Faults:

After 62,000 kilometers nothing at all has gone wrong with the car, the interior has started wear a little, but besides regular services the car has been fine.

General Comments:

I love my Kia Carens. It is by no means the most glamorous car on the road and the Kia brand hasn't got exactly the greatest social standing, but my car has fulfilled its purpose very well, that is to drive the kids to school every morning and run errands with me. The car was what was affordable to me as a single parent and has proved to be comfortable and economical for my family. The only real negative I have with this car is the engine, which is very underpowered, especially with the automatic gearbox. With a full load and the air con going overtaking is not on and hills are tackled slowly. Other than that I like the car and plan to keep for a few more years yet.

2000 Kia Carens LX 1.8EFI from Australia and New Zealand

Summary:

Cheap rubbish - avoid this travesty of a car

Faults:

Persistant rattle in the drivers side door, which service staff have never been able to fix.

General Comments:

6 seats are great, price is OK.

The car is very underpowered, so overtaking is not on.

Vague handling, severe body roll

Manual transmission has no 'feeling'- you can't be sure its in a gear at all until you let the clutch out.

The car has poor ground clearance, I am always hitting the ground going over speed humps.

Really? The rear seats cannot be removed!! Then, remove the designers and go for a flexible designers.

Looking forward for this car with a better seats.

What the Belgian person meant is that you cannot FOLD DOWN the rear seat. Rest assured, if you can rip out an ATM, you can remove the back seat of the Kia. You can always look at other manufacturer's cars, but you will not find better prices.

KWC, Costa Rica.

You can remove the rear seats if necessary; just remove the 2 screws. But because the roomy interior it will be rare to do it.
