1991 Nissan NX1600 Base 1.6L ga16de from North America

Summary:

Well worth the $650 I paid for it

Faults:

Replaced normal wear and tear items over the years. Nothing unusual. Did have to replace my alternator a couple of times.

Replaced water pump and thermostat at around 185000 miles.

Replaced valve cover gasket and spark plug rings at 190000 miles.

Replaced the radiator because of a small crack around 180000 miles.

Replaced the blower motor resistor at 196000, because the fan stopped blowing at all speeds. Very easy to do.

General Comments:

This car is great on gas for something of its age. I get about 27mpg in mostly local driving, and more on the highway. It starts up on first try every time, and runs like a champ.

Corners nicely and can squeeze into tight parking spots in the city easily. The suspension on this car is car is expensive to replace due to its setup. Routine maintenance on this car is very easy to do.

Summary:

Great little car

Faults:

Went through 3 distributors since owned.

Some rust spots on the underside, rear wheel wells.

Rust spots on rear strut towers (leaky hatch seal probably).

Expensive to replace suspension for this little car.

Fuel gauge does not read correct, shows empty when there is 2.5 gallons still left in tank.

General Comments:

Car has been very dependable.

Handling is very good/sporty.

Great gas mileage even for its age; 27 mpg combination even though I drive hard.

1993 Nissan NX1600 1.6 DOHC from North America

Summary:

Fast, sporty, and worth every penny

Faults:

I had the car for 4 years, and nothing went wrong except for a battery being replaced, because my after market stereo and subs drained it badly.

General Comments:

This car was amazing. Not only did it run like a champ, but it never had a single thing go wrong with it. The engine always hummed away, the T-top was fun in the summer times, and it shifted like a dream.

I would get around 320 miles on a ten gallon tank, and highway I would get close to 450 miles off ten gallons.

The car could of used an air conditioner. Only thing that made it uncomfortable in the summer times. And its back seats were tiny.

Hi, I have the same car and noticed that the starter doesn't start or go off when it sits in the sun. The problem with the ignition switch you mentioned might be the same. How did you fix it? If you can e-mail me at tomanizzle@hotmail.com

Well I bought this car for 650$ and I have to put 450$ to pass it safety, I had to get new wheel bearings, and some cosmetics (hole in the frame)

After that 2 days later new front brakes, and replace my CV half shaft at 260 000 km I drive it hard. and the previous owner never replaced it and he owned it for 5 years.

The drive train on this car is really reliable, but it has a major rusting problem.

I had to weld back my rear wheel weal because the arc separated it from my car thank god the bottom stayed in-tack.

Cheap on gas can get 500 km on one gas tank.

No room in the back center console lid broke.
