1999 Oldsmobile Bravada from North America

Summary:

Seek out a Used Vehicle Inspection from a certified technician before you buy!

Faults:

Purchased the Bravada two weeks ago. The day after driving it off the lot, the Bravada was returned to the dealer for transmission problems.

Again it is in the shop for transfer case issues due to the shudder and no heat.

General Comments:

The ride is extremely comfortable. I purchased the Bravada based on reports I read regarding the comfort of the ride.

It handles well off road.

1999 Oldsmobile Bravada V6 4.2L from North America

Summary:

One of the best riding SUV you can get

Faults:

The only thing that has gone wrong with this SUV is the fact that they did not have a transmission cooler installed. So, I added one for towing my boat. I did this to decrease the chance of the transmission overheating while towing.

General Comments:

I love the way this automobile feels inside and out. The ride is smooth compared to the Jeep I once had. While the Jeep is far superior off road it's on road behavior was rough even after installing new springs and shocks. The transition to the Bravada has been great and is capable of any off-roading I will do. The all wheel drive has worked as well as a nice fitting glove. If I had a complaint it would be that I can't lock it in. The inside is great and anyone would love to have as good a feeling ride as this has for the SUV it is.

Nice to find someone who is happy with their Bravada. Most owners, regrettably, are not. But like I've figured, some of every model of car will hold up well. And the Bravada is in many ways a fine midsize SUV.

1999 Oldsmobile Bravada from North America

Summary:

Not a car I would recommend to anyone

Faults:

Have had the fluid in the transfer case drained and refilled three times due to a shudder in the vehicle.

Transmission slipping.

Transmission had to be rebuilt.

Vanity mirror cover on passenger side broke off, driver side cover partially broke.

Paint on the luggage rack is peeling.

General Comments:

The Bravada is a very classy vehicle, but as far as mechanically, it has been a very disappointing one. When you purchase a vehicle that cost as much as the Bravada, you expect better.

We have had problems with this vehicle since the first week we purchased it, and the owner of the dealership where we purchased it in Waynesboro, GA, was very rude and hateful when we approached him about returning the Bravada.

I have had very similar problems with the transmission on my 1999 bravada.Transmission was replaced after first week, fluid was replaced and pressure plate rinsed??? I guess. Took it back a couple of times when it did not seem to be shifting out of 4wd. dealer said it was OK - now at 83,000 miles transmission warning light is coming on. Dealer says it may be $2-3,000. Wondering if there are more people with problems - any service directories etc.
