This car is a beauty (except the wheels) with only 78k miles, and looks and drives as good as my 1990 Mercedes 300E!

1989 Oldsmobile Delta 88 Royal 3.8 from North America

Summary:

I virtually destroyed the car and it ran like a champ… LOVED! LOVED! LOVED! this car

Faults:

Transmission slipped some at the end (only slightly noticeable)

Replaced alternator.

Replaced water pump.

Air-conditioner gave up around 215,000 miles.

The only real problem that I had with this car is that it rusted to the point that it was undriveable... because I lived in Northern Iowa where Salt is on the roads and ate away at the car including I had three car accidents...

1. A deer that dented in the hood and broke the emblem out on the front... still worked so I drove it like it was.

2. I was rear-ended... huge dent in the bummer... car still had no 'real' structural damage... still drove it.

3. Side-swiped... major damaged from front quarter-panel to rear-quarter panel on the passenger side... it made it harder to open the doors, but it was still drive-able.

I drove it at least 40,000 miles with all this damage and the car ran great with little to no problems and it still had a great ride.

General Comments:

I bought the car for $500 dollars from a couple who had it sitting in their yard for about 2 years not moved. I did a quick tune-up and drove it about 500 miles a week from city to interstate to dirt/gravel roads.

It had a fantastic ride, roomy car, good power, great fuel efficiency, kept up on regular maintenance and had few issues.

Even in car accidents the car held up really well.

I virtually destroyed the car and it ran like a champ… LOVED! LOVED! LOVED! this car and would buy another if they were still making them.
