2002 Opel Zafira 2.2 16V petrol / LPG from Germany

Summary:

I liked my Zafira 2.2i, but don't buy a Zafira with a smaller engine, it is the wrong place to save

Faults:

PROS:

The 2.2i 16V petrol engine is the only one really strong enough for such a heavy car. The car was very comfortable with automatic transmission, sunroof, air conditioning and electrical control of the windows. Never any problems with it.

CONS:

I am disappointed with the build quality of many little things; I have often had to deal with that. It must be Opel's recent policy, as my two previous Opel cars did a lot more than 400.000 km total with less things to be repaired than on the Zafira. So less comfortable, older Opel models were the better built ones for my own use.

General Comments:

GENERAL:

This was a great car in general and got quite old with me. Shortly after buying it, Vialle LPi6 LPG was built-in. The car ran flawless with LPG (around 200.000 km), which was much better for the environment and it made this car much, much cheaper in total costs at the end.

A very practical car with lots of space inside, and stable on the road - mine was also quite a good sample after all.

2002 Opel Zafira Comfort 1.8 from Israel

Summary:

Great design; build quality could be better

Faults:

Few plastic parts broke down. other that that - perfect!

General Comments:

With 1.8l 125HP engine coupled with automatic transmission one can't expect a breathtaking performance.

Still - it's more that adequate, even fully loaded car is perfectly safe from the active safety angle.

A plastic lever that releases the second seats row (great feature - the entire row slides almost 30cm back and forth) broke down after few weeks.

Excessive wear of the brakes, more that I recall from any other car previously owned.

Fantastic seat arrangement variety - with third row folded, it proved to be a real van with huge capacity for different load.

May not be a fault, probably a safety feature.

2002 Opel Zafira Turbo 2.0 turbo 2.0 from Switzerland

Summary:

Unique high performance van

Faults:

No problems what so ever.

General Comments:

The Opel Zafira Turbo has top performance for a van as well for acceleration, brakes and road holding. On tiny mountain roads it behaves like a sports car. Beside this it's still offers a lot of space an very good comfort for 4 people. I don't recommend long distance travel with more than 4. Luggage space is rather limited.

The black side of the medal are high full and tire consumption.
