1994 Plymouth Laser RS 2.0 Non turbo from North America

Summary:

Seriously Fun to drive!!

Faults:

Engine Rattles.

Bad Motor Mounts.

Harmonic Balancer Broke.

Steering Wheel Cracked.

General Comments:

This car is great.

Every time I get in it, I feel like I want to drive. The transmission engages smoothly, it has nice pick up, and best of all, it handles absolutely beautifully. I feel confident enough to take turns at high speeds.

Feels very solid on the highway.

Right now, it is broken due to the seal between the balancer and the pulley for accessories.

This car is great.

1994 Plymouth Laser 1.8 SOHC 4-cylinder from North America

Summary:

This is a quick common-class car that can be afforded by even a poor musician like me

Faults:

I haven't had it very long, but right after I got it I needed to get water (yes, water) out of my tire, balance the tires, fix the A/C, get new axle shafts and do a fluid flush.

I also think there's a problem with my oil pan.

General Comments:

At first I wouldn't believe it. An engine comparably sized to the car I just sold off (1985 Honda Accord) and it feels and (almost) sounds like a V6. 92HP goes a long way.

The stock suspension is great.

Steering is very tight. It takes some getting-used-to to drive any other vehicle anymore.

4-wheel disc brakes provide excellent stopping power.

I have considered swapping, however, to the turbo engine.

1994 Plymouth Laser AWD Turbo 2.0 turbo from North America

Summary:

The best car you'll ever buy

Faults:

Needs new tie rods.

Synchronizer in transmission went out.

General Comments:

This is one of the fastest cars I have ever drove, and its stock.

The car handles like no other. I have got it to do 70 mph through a stop sign turn.

The interior of this car is great. It feels like your in a jet.

When you hear the turbo whine you just want to go faster and faster.

1994 Plymouth Laser RS 2.0 from North America

Summary:

A nice, fast car for a good price.

Faults:

Replaced timing belt after 100,000 miles.

Replaced water pump after 100,000 miles.

Replaced alternator after 100,000 miles.

General Comments:

I never had a problem with this car until it passed 100,000 miles. At that time I had to do some repairs on the parts listed above, but overall the car has been great.

The paint still looks great even though it's been kept outside.

Interior has remained almost perfect.

The car still has great pick-up and power even though the engine has 112,000 miles!

Spark plug wires gave oil pressure problems due to fuel mixing with the oil at 92,000+ miles.

I am amazed at the pick up this car has for its age.

It handles like it is glued to the road.
