Faults:

Various electronic faults, nothing too serious.

Battery not holding the 150 mile claimed range, 80 - 120 miles is more realistic in expectations at best!

General Comments:

Not doing as much annual mileage lately, I decided to try the EV market going into it with an open mind. These Renault Zoe's have been about for over a decade and you can get them really cheap.

As with any car you must do your checks and due diligence. I knew they need looking after like any car, and condition was good on this one with history, so I bought it used in 2024.

Low running costs are expected and the Zoe delivers. Charge cost depends when and how you charge, and as mentioned do not expect the full range, but if you are using the car locally or around the city it is ideal.

It's actually a smart looking little car and drives very quiet and smoothly. Inside is nice also.

Longer drives are where most EV's and this one certainly fails unfortunately. The battery range drops like a stone on motorways or using any sort of acceleration or going uphill. Really disappointing and can get you nervous if you are not sure if when you are going has charging points. Genuinely worried some days I would not make it back home! In winter it is even worse using the heater and other electrics. I once fully charged it and barely got 76 miles out of it!

My driving mileage will increase in the next year so I will be looking at petrol or diesel cars again and will have to sell this car. Only consider cars like this Zoe if you are on a budget and drive very locally or about the city and have a charging point at home, otherwise these EV's will never replace internal combustion engines cars. Not a terrible car or experience, but not a great one either.
