2004 Rover - Austin 45 SE 1.6 from UK and Ireland

Summary:

Vastly underrated

Faults:

One rear brake light bulb, other than that no problems.

General Comments:

My car has the updated interior which is good quality and very functional. Comfortable seats and excellent suspension give a superb ride in nearly all circumstances. The 1.6 engine is refined at ALL speeds.

Summary:

Brilliant all rounder

Faults:

Nothing has gone wrong.

General Comments:

The car was a pleasant surprise. given the stick Rover seemed to be getting at the time. Its well designed. the quality is well up to the job - no cheap plastics here. I love its comfort and ride. and as it's a facelift model. it looks great too - this is no bland eurohatch!!

But how did it compare to your Fabia?

Compared nicely, the Fabia is totally different to drive and whilst very refined, the 45 is much more surefooted and handles far better.

In fact, subjective styling aside, the 45 is a very competent handler and refined suspension and chassis add to the experience. Would surprise a few people. Shame Rover couldn't re-skin the exterior to suit modern tastes...
